Astra Oil Pressure Warning and Engine Noise
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Vauxhall Astra with 201,536 km is experiencing an oil pressure warning light and loud mechanical noise from the engine. Despite the oil level being fine, these symptoms suggest a potential issue with the oil pressure sensor or, more critically, the oil pump. The problem was confirmed to be a defect in the oil pump, which was causing the engine to be starved of oil, leading to the noise and potential damage to engine bearings. Immediate attention and repair of the oil pump were necessary to prevent further damage.

No oil leakage that I can see. Did yours also have the noise along with the oil light? What did it end up being?

Yeah, the noise was the worrying part. It turned out to be a defect in the oil pump, starving the engine of oil. The noise was probably the engine bearings suffering. Get it checked ASAP; could save you from a much bigger bill. Better get it to the workshop.

Thanks for the advice! It was indeed the oil pump. Cost me 755€ to get it sorted.

Sounds nasty. I had a similar thing with my Astra, though it was a few years older. Same symptoms – oil light and the awful noise. Don't take it lightly! Have you noticed any oil leakage?
