Astra Oil Pressure Warning and Engine Noise

Hi, I've got a 2021 Vauxhall Astra with a gasoline engine and 201536 km on the clock. Recently, the oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up, and there's a loud mechanical noise coming from the engine. I checked the oil level, and it's fine. Could it be the oil pressure sensor?

Sounds nasty. I had a similar thing with my Astra, though it was a few years older. Same symptoms – oil light and the awful noise. Don't take it lightly! Have you noticed any oil leakage?

No oil leakage that I can see. Did yours also have the noise along with the oil light? What did it end up being?

Yeah, the noise was the worrying part. It turned out to be a defect in the oil pump, starving the engine of oil. The noise was probably the engine bearings suffering. Get it checked ASAP; could save you from a much bigger bill. Better get it to the workshop.

Thanks for the advice! It was indeed the oil pump. Cost me 755€ to get it sorted.
