Astra Rear Sun Blind Defective
Summary of the thread
The rear sun blind of a 2018 Vauxhall Astra is stuck and not retracting or extending, with an OBD2 scanner indicating a sun blind motor error. The faint whirring noise suggests the motor is receiving power, but there may be an internal jam or stripped components. It is advised to seek a professional repair quote before attempting any DIY fixes.

When I use the switch, I hear a faint whirring noise, but the blind doesn't move. Does this confirm the motor is defective or that the mechanics are blocked?

Sounds very similar to what I had. The whirring noise probably means the motor's getting power, but something's stripped or jammed internally. I'd say get a quote from a workshop before you start tearing things apart. Cost me about 330€ to fix.

Okay, thanks. I appreciate the advice. I'll take it to a local garage and get a quote. At least now I have an idea of what to expect, cost-wise.

Hey, something similar happened on my Astra. My sunblind also got stuck. I was hoping it was just a fuse, but no luck. Is it making any noise when you try to operate it?
