Astra throttle valve issue

I'm experiencing issues with my 2006 Vauxhall Astra (gasoline engine). Mileage is at 154565 km. The check engine light illuminates, and there's a noticeable reduction in engine power. I suspect a defective throttle valve; symptoms point to either the accelerator pedal module or internal electronics. Any ideas before I start throwing parts at it?

I had a similar issue with my Astra. Limp mode was kicking in intermittently, and the check engine light was also on. Have you checked the throttle body for any obvious obstructions or buildup? What about the throttle position sensor readings? Also, what's the air flow like?

Thanks for the swift response. Air flow seems normal, no unusual readings there. Can you elaborate on the throttle position sensor readings you saw when you had this issue? Was there a significant response delay?

The readings were erratic and outside the normal range when the fault occurred. The response delay was terrible, felt like driving through treacle. To be honest, I tried cleaning the throttle body first, but that didn't fix it for long. Ended up taking it to a trusted workshop; diagnosis pointed to the throttle unit being faulty.

Right, seems I'm heading in the same direction. Diagnostic points towards replacing the defective throttle valve. Repair should cost around 265€. Thanks for sharing your experience.
