Astra Transmission Issues

My 2017 Vauxhall Astra, gasoline engine, with 47027 km is showing some concerning symptoms. The engine light is on, and there's an error stored. The gearbox occasionally enters emergency mode, slips during gear changes, shifts roughly, and makes grinding noises. I suspect a faulty transmission oil temperature sensor. Could a low gearbox oil level be the cause?

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Astra, though mine's a bit older. Same symptoms, engine light and all. Have you checked your transmission fluid level? That was the culprit for me.

Could you elaborate on your situation? Did the low fluid level directly trigger the sensor malfunction, or were there other factors? What was the final fix?

Yeah, pretty sure the low fluid messed with the sensor. I topped it up, but the light stayed on. Ended up taking it to a workshop, they replaced the sensor and topped off the fluid properly. Sorted it right out.

Following your advice, I consulted a workshop. They confirmed a faulty transmission oil temperature sensor, made worse by a low gearbox oil level. The repair, including sensor replacement and oil replenishment, cost 365€. The car is now working normally. Thanks again for your help.
