Hi, thanks for your reply! Yes, I've currently got 194100 KM on the clock and just had my service done last week. The flap actually does make a weird clicking noise when I open it, so you might be onto something with the wiring harness. That's not a bad price for the fix either, I was worried it might be something way more expensive! Did theyage to sort yours out in a day, or did you have to leave it with them longer?

Hey again! Yeah, seeing your mileage and hearing about that clicking noise, it definitely sounds similar to what I experienced with my Insignia. For my repair, I dropped it off in the morning and had it back by late afternoon, took them about 4-5 hours total. They said it's a pretty straightforward fix once they get into it. The clicking noise you're describing is exactly what mine was doing before it completely went haywire! Just a heads up, make sure they check the surrounding rubber seals while they're at it. When they fixed mine, they noticed the seal was starting to perish and replaced that too (thankfully didn't cost much extra). Better to sort it all while they're in there, you know? Still driving strong now with no issues, so hopefully you'll have the same luck. Let me know how you get on with it! Always good to hear if someone's sorted the same problem.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! Really appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll definitely get it booked in next week and make sure to mention the rubber seals too, good shout on that one! It's such a relief knowing it's likely just the wiring harness and not something major with the engine. I'll try to get it in first thing Monday morning since it sounds like a same-day job. That's perfect actually, as I need the car for work later in the week. One less thing to worry about! Thanks again for all your help, it's great getting advice from someone who's been through the same thing. I'll let you know how it goes once it's sorted!

Hey there! Had a similar issue with my 2017 Vauxhall Insignia diesel last year (I have some experience with cars, mostly basic maintenance stuff). The symptoms were exactly the same as what you're describing. Turned out to be a defective fuel filler flap wiring harness, the wires had worn out over time. Took it to my local workshop, and they sorted it out for about €155. The repair included replacing the entire wiring harness assembly. What's your Astra's mileage? Might help to know if it's wear and tear related. Also, does the fuel flap feel loose or make any unusual noises when opening/closing?
