Audi A1 airbag lights up (airbag lamp) in the speedometer after replacing the battery
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around an Audi A1 with an airbag warning light issue that appeared after a battery replacement. The problem is suspected to be related to the airbag system, specifically an "airbag sensor error." Possible causes include a defective sensor or wiring issues. Suggested solutions include reading the fault memory for more precise information, checking for service bulletins or recalls, and consulting with an Audi workshop, as safety-relevant components might be replaced free of charge.

Hey, thanks for the answer. My Audi A1 currently has 104567 km on the clock. The last service was about 1500 km ago. I can't remember an exact safety recall, but the error message in the system is "airbag sensor error". Maybe that will help? I'll see if I can get more details about the error message. Thanks for the tips! LG

Hey, you're welcome! On my Audi A3 (built in 2014), the error was also linked to the airbag sensor. If your error message says "Airbag sensor error", it could be that either the sensor is defective or there is a problem with the wiring. In my case it was a faulty sensor, which was also replaced free of charge because it was also classed as a safety-relevant component. It wouldn't hurt to have the fault memory read out again to get more precise information. Sometimes it also helps to check whether there are specific service bulletins or hidden recalls for your model. Audi is usually quite accommodating when it comes to safety-relevant parts. A tip: If you still have the opportunity to make an appointment with your Audi workshop or a service partner, take all documentation and previous maintenance records with you. This can often help to speed up the process and ensure that you have all the information you need. I hope this helps you! Keep us posted on how it goes. LG and good luck!

Hey, thanks for the additional tips! I will definitely have the fault memory read out again and ask about any hidden recalls or service bulletins. I'll also have the service records handy when I go for service. I really hope it's just the sensor and the whole thing can be fixed without any complications. I'll keep you up to date! Thanks again and best regards!

Hello, Do you have a problem with your car? What kind of car do you have? If so, please give us some information. Have you also saved a fault code? See you then ;)

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Audi A3 (built in 2014). My experience with cars is rather limited. In my case, it was also the airbag warning light that was constantly illuminated. At the garage, they found that some components of the airbag system were defective. The repair didn't cost me anything because these components were classified as safety-relevant by the manufacturer and were therefore replaced free of charge. It's best if you give us all the details about your vehicle, especially the exact error message and the status of the safety recall, if there is one. That way we can help you better! Good luck!
