Thanks for sharing your experience with the A3. Really helped me understand what I was dealing with on my A1. Took it to a certified shop and they also found corroded wiring connections affecting the cabin air sensor system. They had to remove quite a bit to access everything, but the fix has held up well so far. Would you mind sharing what the repair ended up costing you? Just curious how it compares. Also, has your climate control system been working properly since the fix, or have you noticed any other quirks with the auto recirculation?

The repair cost was very reasonable at 95 Euro for fixing the faulty cable connection affecting the AUC sensor system. The climate control has been working flawlessly since the repair was completed. The auto recirculation function is now responding properly, and the cabin air sensor readings are accurate again. The initial diagnosis correctly identified that corroded wiring was preventing proper communication between the climate control module and AUC sensor components. Since having the connections properly restored and sealed, there have been zero issues with the system. The air quality monitoring and automatic recirculation modes function exactly as designed. This type of wiring issue is quite common in climate control systems, but once properly repaired, it typically remains reliable. The key was having a skilled technician who knew exactly where to access the connections and how to properly seal them against future corrosion.

The HVAC issue on my A1 turned out to be a straightforward fix at the certified shop. The technician traced it to corroded wiring connections affecting both the HVAC sensor and air quality sensor systems. Total repair cost came to 180 Euro, which included cleaning the connections and applying a protective coating to prevent future corrosion. The climate control system has been working perfectly for the past month since the repair. The auto recirculation responds immediately now, and all the sensor readings are accurate. It was worth paying a bit more for a proper diagnosis and repair at a certified shop rather than risking another bad experience with an independent mechanic. For anyone else facing similar issues, I strongly recommend getting it checked quickly. The technician mentioned that letting these sensor faults go untreated can lead to more expensive module failures down the line.

Had the same problem on a 2018 Audi A3 1.4 TFSI. The complete HVAC system shutdown turned out to be related to a faulty climate control module connection. The main issue was a disconnected wiring harness that feeds both the auto recirculation and the HVAC sensor system. Common failure points to check: Loose connectors behind the climate control panel, Corroded pins in the main HVAC sensor plug, AUC sensor wiring connection under the dashboard The repair required removing the center console to access the wiring. A proper diagnosis confirmed multiple disconnected pins in the main connector block. This was a serious issue that needed immediate attention, as driving without proper ventilation can create safety concerns due to windshield fogging. Before visiting a shop, try checking the fuses related to the climate control system. The fuse box diagram in your owners manual will show the specific locations. If fuses are good, this likely requires professional diagnostic equipment to properly identify which sensor or connection is causing the system failure.
