Thanks for the detailed response. My A1 with 59928 KM has been serviced regularly, last time 3 months ago. The climate control is completely dead, no response when pressing buttons. The windshield fogging has become quite severe since the malfunction started, especially during morning drives. The dashboard shows error code P0533 which is apparently related to the AC pressure sensor. The electrical issues appeared gradually over about 2 weeks, starting with intermittent climate control glitches before failing completely. The humidity sensor seems to be misreading conditions since the automatic defrost never activates anymore, even when clearly needed. Would checking the wiring harness connections be a good first step before replacing any sensors? Want to avoid unnecessary parts replacement if its just a connection issue.

I can confirm that a corroded wiring harness connection was definitely the root cause in my A3 case. The symptoms you describe with the P0533 code and gradual failure pattern match exactly what I experienced. The key indicator is how multiple related systems, climate control, visibility management, and sensor readings, degraded over time. The complete climate control failure along with the windshield fogging issues strongly suggest a wiring problem rather than just a faulty sensor. In my repair, the technician found moisture had penetrated the main sensor cluster connector, causing corrosion that affected several systems sharing that wiring path. Before any sensor replacements, definitely have the wiring harness inspected, particularly around the sensor cluster area. In my case, simply cleaning and resealing the connections resolved the malfunction completely, restoring proper sensor calibration and system function. The humidity sensor readings should return to normal once the electrical connections are restored, which should fix the automatic defrosting and windshield fogging problems. Based on your mileage and age of the car, the repair cost should be similar to what I paid (around 95 Euro) if its the same wiring issue. For reference, after the repair all systems (climate, washer nozzles, mirror heating) returned to perfect working order and remained reliable through multiple winter seasons.

Yes, good insight about checking the wiring before replacing parts. Just like your case started with the climate glitches, my electrical issues developed slowly too. The error code and failing comfort systems definitely point to similar causes. The regular maintenance schedule is a plus since it rules out basic service issues. Still puzzling how the humidity sensor and climate systems could fail so similarly in different Audi models. Makes sense that the wiring harness connection could be the common weak point rather than multiple sensors failing at once. I will have the mechanic focus first on inspecting those wiring connections around the sensor cluster. The 95 Euro repair cost sounds much better than replacing automotive sensors unnecessarily. Just hope fixing the connections will resolve the windshield fogging and restore proper climate control function like in your case. Will update once I get it checked out. The dashboard warning and electrical issues are really starting to affect daily driving comfort, especially with the cold weather coming up.

Had a very similar issue with my 2012 Audi A3 last winter. Having some experience working on Audi electrical systems, I first noticed problems with the climate control and humidity sensor malfunctions. The dashboard warning kept showing up intermittently, and the automatic climate features were completely unresponsive. The mirror heating and washer nozzles failing in cold weather pointed to a common electrical connection problem. Took it to the workshop where they diagnosed a faulty cable connection near the main sensor cluster. The wiring harness connector had developed corrosion, affecting multiple comfort systems. The repair involved cleaning the connections and replacing one damaged plug, totaling 95 Euro for parts and labor. To better assist with your A1 issue, could you share: Which specific dashboard warning lights are showing? Is the climate control completely dead or partially working? Have you noticed any issues with window visibility or automatic defrosting? Did these problems start suddenly or develop gradually? The sensor calibration system in these models is quite sensitive to electrical connection issues, and proper diagnosis often requires checking multiple related components.
