Audi A2 Climate Controls Failure: Common Fix Guide

Thanks for the helpful response. My car has 62891 KM and the issue started quite suddenly after the last winter service. The blower motor makes a faint humming noise but barely pushes any air. I get error code P0533 which points to the AC pressure sensor circuit. The temperature sensor readings seem completely off too, showing -40 degrees even on warm days. Checked the power supply fuses but they all look fine. The climate control panel sometimes flickers before going completely dark. Starting to think this might be more than just a connector issue given these symptoms.

After looking at your symptoms more closely, especially the error code P0533 and temperature sensor issues, I suspect this might be more complex than my initial connector problem. While my A3 had similar symptoms, yours shows additional red flags. The flickering control panel combined with incorrect temperature readings points to potential issues with the HVAC system control module rather than just the electrical connectors. The AC pressure sensor circuit error could be causing the system to stay in failsafe mode, preventing normal operation of both heating and cooling. When my blower motor was making that faint humming sound, replacing the connectors fixed it completely. But in your case, with the temperature sensors showing -40 degrees and the control panel flickering, I would recommend checking: 1. The main control module connections 2. The blower motor resistor 3. The temperature sensor wiring harness 4. The AC pressure sensor and its wiring My repair was relatively simple at 95 Euro, but given these additional symptoms, you might be looking at 250-400 Euro depending on which components need replacement. The climate control issues appearing right after winter service suggests possible disturbance to the system during maintenance. Would you be able to get the full diagnostic readout? There might be additional error codes that could help pinpoint the exact cause.

Thanks for the troubleshooting advice. The symptoms you described match my situation closely, especially regarding the control panel behavior and sensor readings. I managed to get a full diagnostic scan today and found additional error codes: P0135 and P0141 alongside the AC pressure sensor code. The repair shop checked the wiring harness and found significant corrosion near the HVAC system control module. They estimate 350 Euro for a complete fix including parts and labor to replace the control module, pressure sensor, and damaged wiring. Given the multiple error codes and the corrosion they found, plus the blower motor barely functioning, I think I will proceed with their recommended repairs. The failing power supply to the control panel and incorrect temperature readings really do suggest a more systemic problem than just bad connectors. Going to schedule the repair next week. Will update on whether this resolves all the heating and AC issues once its done.

I had a similar issue with my 2000 Audi A3 1.4 last winter. As someone with some experience working on cars, this problem initially had me stumped. The symptoms were exactly like yours, the climate control system was completely unresponsive, and the blower motor would barely function. After taking it to my regular workshop, they diagnosed it as faulty electrical connectors between the control panel and the main climate control unit. The repair involved removing the control panel and replacing several corroded connectors. The total cost was 95 Euro, which included labor and parts. Since the fix, the heating and air conditioning have been working perfectly. Before suggesting specific solutions, it would help to know: Are you getting any specific error codes? Does the blower motor make any noise when you try to operate it? Have you noticed any intermittent behavior with the controls before they stopped working completely? Did the problem start suddenly or develop gradually? This could be anything from a simple connector issue like mine to a more complex electrical problem, but those details would help narrow it down.
