Thanks for sharing your experience with the A3 electrical problems. It sounds very similar to what I encountered. After reading your detailed reply, I am even more convinced my A2s issues stem from car battery degradation rather than mechanical problems. Did the fixes resolve everything completely? Also curious about the total repair costs, especially since my A2 might need similar work with the battery system and alternator testing. Have you experienced any engine stalling or automatic restart issues since the repair was done? I notice my start-stop system is becoming increasingly unreliable, which matches your description of the warning signs. Will get it checked right away rather than risk further electrical damage.

After getting the repairs done on my A3, all the electrical problems cleared up completely. The mechanic found a heavily discharged battery that was affecting the start-stop system and causing those annoying stalling issues. The total bill came to 290 Euro, which covered the new battery installation and full system diagnostics. Since the fix, the automatic restart feature works flawlessly again. The engine starts immediately every time, and the eco mode stays consistently active. No more unusual stalling or warning lights on the dashboard. The start-stop system now engages properly at traffic lights, showing the hybrid vehicle functionality is back to normal. Getting it fixed early was definitely the right call, the mechanic mentioned that waiting longer could have led to more expensive repairs if the failing battery had damaged other electrical components. The comprehensive testing they did ensured all related systems were working correctly after the battery replacement.

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies. I took my A2 to a different mechanic yesterday who specialized in electrical diagnostics. Just as suggested, they found my car battery was severely degraded and the alternator wasn't charging properly. The repair included: New AGM battery installation, Alternator testing and repair, System recalibration, Full electrical diagnostic scan Total cost was 340 Euro but worth every cent. The engine stalling issues are completely gone now. The start-stop system works perfectly again and the warning lights have disappeared. The automatic restart engages smoothly at every stop. Really glad I acted quickly before the faulty battery could damage other components. The mechanic confirmed that prolonged electrical issues often cascade into bigger problems. The car runs like new now, no more anxiety about sudden shutdowns while driving.

Recently dealt with similar symptoms in my 2005 Audi A3 1.8T. The start-stop system failure combined with engine stalling pointed to a complex electrical issue. The battery tested severely discharged, which triggered a chain reaction affecting multiple systems. The repair involved: Full battery diagnostic revealed internal cell damage, Starter motor inspection showed worn contacts, Alternator output testing confirmed charging problems, ECU required recalibration after new battery installation Root cause was a failing battery causing voltage drops, which made the start-stop system malfunction and eventually led to complete engine shutdowns. The original battery had degraded beyond the normal threshold, preventing proper engine start sequences. The repair was significant since the electrical issues had begun affecting other components. Would strongly recommend getting the battery and charging system tested, as these symptoms match a severe battery issue rather than just a standard start-stop system fault. Key warning signs that confirmed the diagnosis: Delayed engine start, Eco mode deactivating out of nowhere, Instrument cluster warnings, Failed automatic restart attempts This type of electrical system failure typically requires professional diagnosis with specialized equipment to prevent damage to other components.
