Audi A4 2016, diesel: Problem with heated windows and possible solutions
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a problem with the heated windows of a 2016 Audi A4 diesel, where the windshield heater is suspected to be the issue. A similar issue was resolved in an Audi A6 by replacing a defective fuse, suggesting this could be a common problem with Audi vehicles. The recommended solution is to check and possibly replace the fuse, with reassurance that the repair cost should be manageable.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply. Well, my A4 has now done 59000 km. At the last service, which was not too long ago, no errors were displayed. The faults that are now stored all relate to the windshield heating. Maybe you're right and it's just the fuse. I will definitely have it checked at my garage. Hopefully it won't be too expensive. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for, to help each other, right? Just like my A6, it could well be the fuse that's the problem, so definitely a good idea to get that checked. With the miles your A4 has done, it's actually quite likely. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for Audi to blow the windshield heater fuse. Don't worry too much, the repair costs were really manageable for me, and if it's the same problem for you, it shouldn't cost much more. Feel free to give us an update when you know more, then we can help better if the problem is something else. All the best!

Haha that's true, that's what we're here for after all. So much more reassuring for me to hear that this could be a normal problem with Audis and the cost is manageable. Your words give me a bit of relief. I'll definitely give an update once I've had the car in the workshop. I hope the problem resolves as easily as it did for you. Thanks again for your input and help! See you then!

In my case, the fault is a defect in the heater for the camera in the windshield, so only a new windshield will help as the heater is part of it. Alternatively, you can make a half-baked solution by coding it out. The whole thing can also be recognized by the fact that the automatic high beam no longer works or, as in my case, the matrix beam.

According to the error message, the heating has failed on the driver's door of the exterior mirror. How can I get to grips with the problem? In addition, the transmission in my Range Rover is on strike and a white intermediate window shows that the ECU cannot be controlled or something?

For the heating failure on the driver's door mirror, you might want to check the wiring and connectors for any signs of damage or corrosion. If everything looks fine, the heating element itself could be faulty and may need to be replaced. As for the transmission issue, it could be due to a number of reasons such as a faulty sensor, wiring issues, or even a problem with the ECU itself. It's hard to diagnose without more information. I would recommend getting a professional mechanic to run a diagnostic test on your vehicle to pinpoint the exact issue. Please keep us updated on your progress and let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2014 Audi A6. I would describe myself as someone with some car knowledge. I went to my garage at the time because my windshield heater stopped working. It turned out that the fuse for the windshield heater was defective. The repair cost me 60 euros and the matter was resolved. Maybe it's the fuse that needs replacing in your case too. Could you provide some more information about your car? For example, exactly which errors are stored. That would help to identify the problem more precisely. Hopefully my experience will help you!
