Thanks for the detailed response. My mileage is currently at 64237 KM and the last service was done 3 months ago. I am using a recent model phone and already tried multiple other devices with no success. The malfunction indicator persists after cycling the ignition. I even tried disconnecting the battery overnight but the electrical faults keep showing up in the error memory. Interesting that your fix was just a software update. Did you have any recurring issues after the update? The 45 Euro repair cost sounds much better than what I feared it might be.

Thanks for providing those details. After the software update on my A3, everything worked flawlessly for about 8 months. However, I did experience one minor connectivity problem after a major phone OS update, but cycling the ignition system resolved it immediately. Since your electrical faults persist even after a battery disconnect, it might point to a slightly different issue than what I encountered. While the symptoms sound similar, the fact that multiple devices wont connect suggests it could be related to the multimedia interface module itself rather than just a software protocol issue. Based on your mileage and the timing of your last service, its worth checking if there are any pending software updates specifically for your model. The persistent electrical faults in the error memory could indicate a module thats either corrupted or needs recoding, which is still typically less expensive than hardware replacement. In my case, the workshop also mentioned they had to clear some function restrictions that were accidentally enabled during a previous update. Might be worth asking your workshop to specifically check for this, as it can cause similar connectivity problems. Just keep in mind that while my fix was relatively inexpensive, diagnostics might reveal a different root cause in your case, though its still likely to be software-related rather than a major hardware issue.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the software fix. I've called my local workshop and scheduled an appointment for next week. Your case gives me hope that this might be resolved without major expense. To update on my situation: I tried a few more troubleshooting steps over the weekend. Did another round of phone pairing attempts with 3 different devices, still no luck. The electrical faults are definitely consistent, showing up every time I scan the system. The malfunction indicator is now flickering occasionally, which is new. My regular mechanic mentioned they recently got updated diagnostic equipment specifically for these multimedia interface issues, so hopefully they can identify if its similar to your software protocol problem. The 45 Euro cost you mentioned would be ideal, though Im prepared for it to potentially be a bit more if they need to do extensive diagnostics or recoding. Will keep monitoring for any new electrical faults or changes in the system behavior until the appointment. Really hoping its just a software update like in your case rather than a module replacement.

Had the exact same issue with my 2015 Audi A3 2.0 TFSI last year. Being somewhat experienced with basic car maintenance and electrical faults, I first tried the usual troubleshooting steps like disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes to reset the system. When that didnt work, I took it to my regular workshop. They found multiple electrical faults in the system, very similar to your situation. The main issue turned out to be an incorrect pairing protocol between the car and mobile devices, which was causing the system to throw these error codes. The fix was actually quite straightforward, they needed to update the multimedia interface software and clear the error memory. Total cost was 45 Euro and took about an hour to complete. No hardware replacement was necessary in my case. Before suggesting more specific solutions, could you share: Which phone model youre trying to connect? Have you tried pairing with different phones? Did you recently update your phones operating system? Does the error persist after turning the ignition system off and on? This info would help determine if youre dealing with the same interface problem I had or if its potentially a different electrical fault.
