Had exactly the same issue with my Audi A4. This brake light problem drove me crazy with constant error messages. Changed the brake switch about 6 months ago and havent seen any error codes since. The brake pedal feels normal again too. How much did you end up paying for the repair? Was the tail light functioning properly after the fix and did you notice any other electrical issues come up?

Had it checked at the mechanic but turned out no actual brake light switch replacement was needed. The electrical issue was actually caused by me not fully engaging the brake pedal switch when starting the car. The mechanic showed me the correct pedal position and the error messages disappeared right away. So my repair cost was 0 Euro since it was just personal error rather than a bad brake switch. The tail lights are working perfectly and no more warning lights on the dash. Different from your case where an actual switch replacement was needed. Good to hear your brake light problems were solved with the switch replacement and everything is working normally now. When these automotive switches work properly, you really notice the difference in pedal feel and operation.

The switch issue ended up costing me 180 Euro at the repair shop. Once fixed, all electrical problems disappeared completely, no more error codes or warning lights. The brake pedal went back to normal feel and the tail lights work perfectly now. I originally thought I could do the brake switch replacement myself, but getting the error codes cleared properly needed dealer diagnostic equipment. The mechanic showed me that a faulty switch can affect multiple vehicle safety systems, so going to a professional was worth it. The whole repair took about 45 minutes and Ive had zero issues since then. Best decision was fixing it right away instead of dealing with those constant error messages.

As an Audi A6 2.0T (2004) owner, I encountered similar brake light issues. The brake switch malfunction is a common problem in these models. The vehicle safety system triggers these warnings when the automotive switch starts failing. The brake pedal feeling different is a telltale sign. In my case, the brake switch was worn out, causing intermittent tail light operation and constant error messages. The switch replacement was necessary to resolve both the error codes and restore proper brake light function. The repair is relatively straightforward but requires specific diagnostic equipment to clear the error codes properly after replacement. The brake switch itself is a small part, but its crucial for several safety systems including cruise control and brake light operation. This is not a serious mechanical issue, but it should be addressed promptly since it affects important vehicle safety features. The repair typically takes under an hour for an experienced technician with the right diagnostic tools. Worth noting that clearing the codes without replacing the faulty switch will only result in temporary relief, the warning messages will return until the underlying brake switch issue is fixed.
