Latest service was at 31271 KM. Thanks for sharing your experience. The issues actually happen more when the engine is warmed up, and I havent noticed any battery problems. The car starts fine every time. The warning light shows P0730 code which points to incorrect gear ratio. Looking at the service history, I realize the transmission fluid hasnt been changed since I got the car. The automatic gearbox definitely feels rougher compared to before. Based on your feedback, I will have the hydraulic fluid levels checked first, but Im worried this might need more than just a transmission flush given the error code. Would you mind sharing what other electrical components they checked during your repair? Just want to rule out similar issues before diving into major transmission work.

Thanks for the additional details, that P0730 code combined with the symptoms points to a different issue than what I experienced with my A6. Given the automatic transmission problems occur more when warm and theres a gear ratio fault code, this sounds more like an internal transmission issue rather than electrical. In my case, they checked the alternator, grounding points and all transmission solenoids, but your symptoms are quite different. With no transmission oil changes in the service history, I would strongly recommend getting the automatic gearbox fluid changed first. However, that code often indicates mechanical wear inside the transmission, possibly worn clutch packs or solenoid issues that a simple fluid change might not fix. In my earlier transmission issues before the electrical problem, I also experienced a slipping transmission that got worse when warm. That ended up being worn clutch packs, which cost around 2800 Euro to repair. The warning signs were very similar, rough shifting that worsened with temperature and incorrect gear ratio codes. Would suggest: 1. Complete transmission fluid change 2. Full diagnostic scan 3. Check solenoid operation 4. Pressure test of the hydraulic system This should pinpoint whether its a maintenance issue or internal transmission damage requiring more extensive work.

Thank you both for the detailed information. After reviewing everything, I feel a bit more informed but also concerned about the potential repair costs. The slipping transmission symptoms match what you described with the worn clutch packs, especially since they worsen when warm. Since my transmission oil hasnt been changed and the automatic transmission is showing clear performance issues, I will follow your suggested diagnostic steps. The P0730 code and rough shifting definitely point to something more serious than what you experienced with the electrical system. Going to book it in for a complete transmission check next week. Will start with the transmission oil replacement and diagnostics to rule out simpler fixes, but based on the symptoms and your experience, I should probably prepare for a larger repair bill if its the clutch packs. Would you mind if I check back after the diagnostic results? The automatic gearbox problems are getting worse, and Id appreciate any additional insight once I have more specific information from the shop.

I had a similar situation with my 2014 Audi A6 with automatic transmission. Having some experience with transmission issues, I noticed comparable symptoms last year. The automatic gearbox warning light and limp mode turned out to be related to an electrical undervoltage issue affecting the transmission control unit. While I initially thought it needed a transmission flush or hydraulic fluid change, the actual fix was less complex. The workshop diagnosed it by checking the voltage levels and found the battery was struggling to maintain proper voltage for the transmission control systems. Total repair cost was 240 Euro, which included: Battery voltage testing, Control unit reset, System diagnostics, New battery installation Before jumping to conclusions about transmission problems, would you mind sharing: Does the issue occur more frequently when the engine is cold or warm? Have you noticed any battery-related issues like slow starts? What type of diagnostic codes is the car showing? When was the last automatic transmission oil replacement done? This information would help determine if your case is similar to what I experienced or if its truly transmission-related.
