Thank you for sharing your experience with the A5 alarm system failure. My 2016 A5 had similar security alarm issues last year. The immobilizer kept triggering false alarms until the system stopped responding completely. After multiple power failures and system resets, it turned out the main control module needed replacement along with some wiring repairs. Would you mind sharing what the total repair cost was in your case? Also curious if youve had any recurring issues since the fix, as Im still experiencing occasional false alarms despite the repairs.

Glad I could help with the A5 security alarm problem. After taking it to a certified shop last week, they resolved the anti-theft system malfunction completely. The repair was straightforward, they reprogrammed the control module and set up proper coding for the optical locking indicators. The total came to just 45 Euro for the diagnostic work and coding fix. Much better than replacing the entire module. Since the repair, zero false alarms or battery issues. The car alarm now works perfectly and the indicators flash correctly when locking. Its important to get these security system problems fixed quickly. A faulty car alarm can drain the battery or leave your vehicle vulnerable. In my experience, proper diagnostic testing is crucial, trying quick fixes often leads to more costly repairs later. The key was finding a shop with the right diagnostic equipment to properly code the alarm system. Many general mechanics lack the specialized tools needed for these complex security features.

Thanks everyone for the input on my A5 alarm troubles. After seeing the responses, I took my car to a specialized Audi service center. The technician found issues with both the security alarm module and some corroded wiring that was causing power failures. The total repair came to 780 Euro including: New alarm control module, Wiring harness replacement, System programming, Labor costs More expensive than I hoped, but the immobilizer and car alarm are working perfectly now. No more false alarms or system errors. The optical indicators flash normally when locking, and the security system responds as it should. Big difference from my previous mechanic who just kept resetting the system without fixing the root cause. Worth the extra cost to have it done right by specialists with proper diagnostic equipment. Really glad I asked here first instead of trying cheaper alternatives that might have made things worse.

Working as a mechanic taught me this exact issue when I had a 2013 Audi A4 2.0T. The alarm system failure is often linked to the central control module not properly communicating with the immobilizer system. Main causes typically include: Faulty door sensors, Damaged wiring in the anti-theft system, Control unit software corruption, Failed alarm control module The fix required complete diagnostics of the car alarm components. Most often, the entire alarm control unit needs reprogramming or replacement to restore proper function. In severe cases, the immobilizer system also requires recoding to sync with the new alarm module. This is considered a complex repair because it involves the vehicle security system. DIY attempts often make things worse since specialized diagnostic equipment is needed to properly code the alarm system and immobilizer together. The optical locking indicators not flashing is usually the first sign before complete system failure. When this happens, it means the central locking system isnt properly communicating with the alarm control module. Best course of action: 1. Get full diagnostic scan 2. Check all door sensors 3. Test alarm control module 4. Verify immobilizer coding 5. Inspect wiring harness This is definitely a job for an authorized service center with proper diagnostic capabilities.
