Audi A5 Washer System Dead Despite Full Fluid Tank

Looking for advice on my 2009 Audi A5 2.0 TFSI. Getting a warning light on the dashboard for washer fluid, but just filled it up last week. The windshield washer system stopped working completely. Tried pressing the lever but nothing happens, no sound from the washer motor either. My previous mechanic visit for another issue was a total ripoff, so trying to get some real experiences before taking it in again. Car has 38290km. Anyone dealt with something similar? What was the actual problem and repair cost?

Had the same problem with my 2012 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI. The washer fluid warning light kept appearing despite a full reservoir. Upon inspection, found a cracked washer fluid container causing leaks, plus clogged spray jets from debris buildup. The system needed multiple fixes: Replacing the damaged washer fluid reservoir, Cleaning the spray jets, Installing new washer pump (old one burned out from running dry), Replacing damaged wiring to the pump Not a major mechanical issue, but required thorough diagnostic work since multiple components were affected. The windshield washer system problems often cascade, one faulty part leads to damage in others. Worth checking the basics first: Look under the car for puddles after parking, Check if washer fluid level actually drops, Listen for pump noise when activating washer, Inspect spray jets for blockages The dashboard light issue could be either a faulty sensor or genuine fluid loss. Best to address it quickly before more components fail from running the system dry.

Thanks for sharing your experience. My wiper fluid issue turned out very similar on my Audi A5. After getting the warning light and complete system failure, the mechanic found both a crack in the reservoir and a failed pump. Cannot believe how a simple windshield cleaning system became such a repair job. Just wondering, how much did you end up paying for all the fixes? Also, has your washer system been working properly since the repair? Still trying to figure out if I should go ahead with the full system overhaul or just replace individual parts as needed.

Finally got my Audi A4 back from the shop yesterday. The windshield washer system is working perfectly now, no more warning light issues or failures. The entire repair was much more reasonable than expected at 580 Euro total. Like yours, my problem started with the washer fluid warning light that would not clear. The complete fix included a new reservoir, pump, and wiring harness. The mechanic also cleaned out the spray nozzles as preventive maintenance. My advice would be to go for the complete system overhaul. Replacing parts one at a time often ends up more expensive, and you risk damaging new components if other worn parts fail. Plus, having everything done at once means you will not need to deal with repeated shop visits. The wiper system has been flawless for 6 months now. No more dashboard light warnings or issues with the washer motor. Worth noting that the low washer fluid warning was completely resolved once they fixed the cracked reservoir, turns out it was leaking faster than I could refill it.

After getting multiple recommendations, I took my A5 to a small independent shop. The mechanic found exactly what was suspected, a cracked washer fluid reservoir and a burned-out pump. The entire repair came to 495 Euro, which included: New washer fluid container, Replacement pump, Fresh wiring, Labor costs The dashboard warning light disappeared immediately after the fix. The windshield washer system now works perfectly, strong spray and no leaks. Definitely worth fixing everything at once rather than piece by piece. The washer motor kicks in instantly when needed, and the spray pattern is actually better than before. Much happier with this repair experience compared to my last shop visit. No more puddles under the car, and I have not had to refill the wiper fluid since the fix three weeks ago. Lesson learned about addressing these warning lights promptly before more damage occurs.
