Thanks for sharing your experience. I had the same issues with my Audi A6 last year. Really helpful to know about the amplifier unit being the culprit. How much did you end up paying for the repair? Has the sound system been working properly since the fix? Just asking because I noticed some minor sound distortion coming back in my car speakers recently, even after the repair.

Thanks for asking about the follow-up. After getting the repair done with the defective bass speaker replacement, the sound quality has been absolutely perfect. The initial sound distortion issues are completely resolved, and the volume control works flawlessly now. The total repair cost was 280 Euro, which included the diagnostic work and the replacement parts. Much better value than replacing the entire sound system, which was my initial worry. The car speakers are all functioning properly now, with no signs of the previous audio problems returning. If youre experiencing sound distortion again, I would recommend getting it checked soon, as small issues can sometimes indicate early warning signs of speaker problems. This repair proved much more straightforward than my previous amplifier replacement, and the sound system has been reliable for several months now. The clarity and audio performance are back to factory standards.

Following up on my initial post for closure. After taking my Audi to a mechanic, turned out it wasnt the amplifier after all, just a faulty wiring harness that was causing the sound system failure. The auxiliary input cables had corroded over time, affecting all audio connectivity. The repair was surprisingly quick and cheaper than expected at 150 Euro. No more audio issues since the fix, and the Bluetooth connection works perfectly now. The mechanic also checked all speakers and the volume control system while they had it open. Much better experience this time with a specialist audio shop rather than the general repair place I used before. They actually took time to properly diagnose the issue instead of just suggesting expensive replacements. Good to have proper sound back in the car without breaking the bank.

Had similar radio silence issues with my 2009 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI. After complete sound system failure, the diagnosis revealed two main problems: The amplifier unit under the drivers seat had failed, causing total loss of audio connectivity across all speakers. This is a known issue in these models and requires replacement of the entire amp module. Initially thought it was just a blown fuse or loose connection, but the volume control and head unit were responding normally, just no sound output. The amp failure also caused minor sound distortion before completely dying. The repair involved: Testing all car speakers individually, Replacing the amplifier unit, Recoding the new amp to work with the existing head unit, Full system diagnostic check This was definitely more than a simple fix. The entire sound system is integrated through the amplifier, so when it fails, you get complete audio system shutdown. Worth having a professional diagnose it, as DIY attempts can potentially damage other connected components. Similar symptoms often point to amplifier failure in these models rather than just fuse issues, though always worth checking fuses first.
