Audi A6 Battery Mystery: Beyond Voltage Sensors

Looking for insights on my 2020 Audi A6 battery issues. Car struggles to start and the lights flicker or appear weak. Battery testing shows odd readings, and I suspect a faulty voltage sensor might be causing incorrect battery health readings. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Really interested in hearing what diagnostics your workshop ran and how they resolved it. What was the actual fix, was it the sensor or something else affecting the battery charge? Please share your repair experience and costs if possible.

Having some experience with electrical issues, I dealt with almost identical symptoms on my 2018 Audi A4. The vehicle diagnostics initially pointed to a failing battery, but after deeper testing, the workshop identified a faulty battery sensor as the root cause. The symptoms were exactly as you describe, inconsistent starting, flickering lights, and unreliable battery readings. The car battery itself tested fine, but the bad sensor was sending incorrect data to the vehicle management system. The repair involved replacing the battery sensor and recalibrating the system. Total cost was 315 Euro including parts and labor. Since the fix, all electrical systems have worked perfectly with no more starting issues. To provide more specific guidance for your case, could you share: Are you getting any specific error codes? How old is your current battery? Does the problem occur more frequently when the engine is cold or warm? Have you noticed any other electrical irregularities? This information would help determine if your issue matches the low voltage problems I experienced with my sensor replacement.

The battery voltage issue resolved after replacing both the sensor and battery. The repair cost was 450 Euro. My mileage is currently at 175555 KM with the last service done last month. After the fix, battery health readings are now consistent and accurate. The voltage sensor was indeed faulty, causing erratic readings in the system. Regular battery maintenance checks now show normal values, and all electrical systems are functioning properly. The workshop ran a complete diagnostic on the charging system which confirmed the dual component failure.

Thanks for the update on your A6 repair. Your experience mirrors mine exactly, it often takes swapping both components to fully resolve these electrical issues. After my initial battery sensor replacement on my A4, I ended up replacing the car battery too within a month for optimal performance. The vehicle diagnostics really proved essential in identifying both failing parts in your case. Good call on getting the complete charging system check, it helps prevent any lingering issues with battery charge levels. For reference to others with similar symptoms: when both the battery and sensor are involved, repair costs typically range between 400-500 Euro, aligning with your 450 Euro total. The key is proper diagnosis and addressing both components if needed, rather than changing parts one at a time. Have you noticed any improvement in cold weather starting since the repair? My A4s performance improved significantly, especially during cold starts.

The car is running perfectly after replacing both parts. Cold starts are smooth now with no flickering lights or electrical issues. The battery voltage stays consistent even after sitting for several days, which was a problem before. The workshop showed me the difference in the battery health readings between the old and new setup, the improvement is significant. The total 450 Euro investment was worth it since all electrical systems now work as intended. Regular battery maintenance checks confirm normal operation, and the new sensor provides accurate readings to the car's computer. Interestingly, my fuel economy has slightly improved too, possibly because the charging system is working more efficiently. I appreciate everyone sharing their experiences, it helped confirm my suspicion about both the battery and sensor needing replacement. For anyone facing similar symptoms, make sure to get a complete system diagnostic rather than just checking the battery charge alone.
