Last service was done at 119456 KM. After checking the fault codes more carefully, I noticed the blower motor makes a strange whining noise when adjusting the fan speed. The climate control panel now gives inconsistent temperature readings compared to the actual cabin temperature. Started gradually over the last few weeks. The temperature sensor seems to be giving unusual readings on the control panel display. Will probably need a proper diagnostic scan to pinpoint the exact issue. Does this additional info help narrow down the problem?

Based on those symptoms, especially the whining noise and inconsistent readings, I'm even more convinced it's related to the electrical system, just like what I experienced with my A4. The whining from the blower motor combined with erratic temperature readings strongly suggests either a deteriorating wiring harness or failing electrical connectors. In my case, the electronic faults started showing similar behavior before the system completely failed. The gradual onset matches my experience too. Mine began with inconsistent readings, then progressed to complete failure over about a month. The control panel started showing unusual temperatures because it wasnt getting reliable data through the damaged connections. A proper diagnostic scan would definitely help, but given the matching symptoms, I suspect youll find issues with: Power supply to the blower motor, Compromised electrical connectors near the control panel, Damaged wiring harness sections causing intermittent sensor readings The repair might be similar to what fixed my A4, replacing damaged connectors and checking the entire wiring harness for the climate control system. The gradual failure pattern and whining noise really point to electrical issues rather than mechanical problems. Based on my repair costs, you might be looking at 80-120 Euro depending on how many connectors need replacement. Much better than replacing the entire control panel or blower motor.

Thanks for sharing those details about my car, the whining noise from the blower motor definitely seems significant. The inconsistent temperature readings appearing on the control panel over the past few weeks does align with what you experienced. Really helpful to know it could be related to deteriorating electrical connectors rather than a complete failure of major components. I'll get the diagnostic scan done to confirm the wiring harness and power supply issues you mentioned. Good to hear the repair costs were reasonable in your case, hoping mine will be in that 80-120 Euro range too, rather than needing the whole temperature sensor system or blower motor replaced. Will make an appointment with my workshop and have them specifically check the electrical connections you highlighted. The gradual progression of issues you described matches my situation perfectly. I appreciate you walking me through your similar experience, it gives me a much better idea of what to expect.

I had a very similar issue with my 2010 Audi A4 2.0T, the symptoms were almost identical. As someone with moderate DIY car repair experience, I initially thought it was the blower motor. After taking it to a workshop, they diagnosed the problem as a faulty wiring harness connection to the climate control panel. The temperature sensor readings weren't being properly transmitted due to corroded plug connections. The air conditioning and heating systems themselves were fine, but the control signals weren't getting through. The repair involved cleaning and reseating the connections, plus replacing one damaged connector. Total cost was 95 Euro for parts and labor. The system has worked flawlessly since then. To help diagnose your specific case, could you share: Are there any error messages on the control panel display? Does the blower motor make any noise when you adjust the settings? Have you noticed any intermittent operation, or did it stop working completely? Did the issue start suddenly or develop gradually? The wiring setup is quite similar between the A4 and A6 models, so it could be the same root cause, but more details would help confirm.
