Audi A6 Lighting System Malfunction Needs Urgent Fix

My Audi A6 (2022, gasoline, 146649km) has been giving me electrical problems lately. The dashboard lights and car lighting are acting up, turning on out of nowhere. The automotive switch seems faulty, and my error scanner shows stored codes. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their light switch? Looking for advice before heading back to a mechanic since my last repair experience wasnt great.

Had a similar issue on my Audi A4 2019. The headlight switch malfunction started with unusual flickering of interior lights and dashboard illumination. The error codes pointed to a faulty connection in the main car switch module. The root cause was corrosion in the wiring harness connecting to the lighting control module. This created intermittent electrical issues affecting multiple systems. The repair required replacing the entire headlight switch assembly and cleaning the connector pins. This is typically a serious electrical system problem that can affect safety features if left unaddressed. The unusual activation of car lighting can drain the battery and potentially cause other electrical components to fail. Would strongly suggest getting the complete diagnostic at a specialized workshop. The wiring harness inspection is crucial since damaged cables behind the light switch can cause similar symptoms. This type of electrical issue rarely fixes itself and usually gets worse over time. Most common failure points: Corroded headlight switch connectors, Damaged wiring harness, Failed lighting control module, Loose ground connections, Faulty automotive switch relay

Thanks for sharing your experience with the electrical problems. I had almost the exact same symptoms on my A6 last year, unusual dashboard flickering and the dimmer switch going crazy. The mechanic found corroded wiring behind the light switch module, just like in your case. How much did the repair end up costing you? My bill came to around 450 Euro for parts and labor, but prices seem to vary quite a bit. Also wondering if youve had any other electrical issues pop up since getting it fixed? The car switch replacement solved most of my problems but I still get an occasional warning light on cold mornings.

Thanks for checking back about the electrical problems. Got my Audi A4 fixed last week and the faulty light switch issues are completely resolved now. The mechanic found and repaired a damaged cable connection at the headlight switch module, which was causing those unusual dashboard lights and electrical glitches. The total repair cost was 95 Euro, much less than your experience since only the cable connection needed fixing rather than replacing the entire car switch assembly. The diagnostic revealed the problem was isolated to just that one faulty connection, no other components were affected. Since the repair, all the electrical systems have been working perfectly. No more unusual dashboard lights or switch malfunctions. For your occasional warning light on cold mornings, it might be worth having the ground connections checked, as these can sometimes cause intermittent electrical problems in cold weather. The key was finding a mechanic who really understood automotive electrical systems and could pinpoint the exact issue with the light switch rather than just replacing parts. A proper diagnosis saved both time and money in my case.

I took my A6 to a different mechanic after reading these responses. The automotive switch problems turned out to be exactly what was described, corroded wiring near the headlight switch assembly. The new shop did a thorough electrical diagnostic and found multiple failing connection points in the dashboard lights system. Total repair came to 280 Euro, which included cleaning all connector pins and replacing one damaged section of the wiring harness near the car switch module. Been driving for 2 weeks since the repair and all the unusual electrical issues have stopped. No more flickering dashboard lights or malfunctioning switches. The morning warning light issue is also resolved. Definitely worth getting a second opinion from a mechanic who specializes in electrical systems rather than paying more for unnecessary parts replacement. The light switch and all other controls are working perfectly now. Really glad I asked here before going back to my original mechanic. Sometimes finding the right specialist makes all the difference with electrical problems.
