Audi A7 Hybrid HVAC Fan Failure: Complete Air Cutoff

Thank you for sharing your experience. My A7 has 177429KM and was last serviced 3 months ago. When adjusting the fan speed controller, I notice a faint clicking sound from behind the dashboard, but no actual air movement. Just checked again, the climate control display shows all functions working normally, but the cabin fan remains completely dead. The air conditioning temperature settings respond on screen, but without the blower motor working, nothing reaches the cabin. Im scheduling a warranty service appointment, but wanted to see if others faced similar problems first. Good to know the repair time is around 3 hours if a blower replacement is needed.

Based on those symptoms, especially the clicking sound when adjusting the fan speed controller, it does sound very similar to what I experienced. In my case, that clicking was actually coming from the fan speed control module trying to engage the blower motor. After my repair, I learned that the electrical wiring to the blower motor was intact, but the motor itself had seized. The clicking noise is typically the control module attempting to send power to start the air circulation, but a failed motor wont respond. Since your vehicle has higher mileage than mine did when the issue occurred, there could also be debris or leaves blocking the blower motor housing. However, given the complete lack of air movement and the error codes, a failed blower motor is most likely. The good news is that once replaced, my HVAC system has worked flawlessly for over a year now. When they do the repair, make sure they check the air intake for any debris buildup, this can help prevent future issues with the new blower motor. The clicking sound you describe matches exactly what I heard before the repair, so Im fairly confident youre dealing with the same issue I had. Keep us updated on what the service department finds.

Thanks for the additional details, especially about the clicking noise. Now that you mention it matches what the previous poster heard, Im feeling more confident about what to expect at the service appointment. The mileage on mine is pretty high at 177429KM, but since its still under warranty, hopefully the repair costs will be covered. Im mainly relieved to hear the HVAC system worked perfectly after your blower motor replacement. The clicking from the fan speed controller definitely seems to point to the same issue you had. Ive documented all the symptoms, no air flow, normal climate control display, clicking when adjusting settings, to share with the service department. Will make sure they check both the blower motor and clear any debris from the cabin fan housing during the repair. My appointment is scheduled for next week. Ill post an update once I know what they find and whether it was indeed the same heater fan issue you experienced.

I had a similar issue with my 2021 Audi A6 Hybrid last winter. As someone with moderate car repair experience, I can tell you the cabin fan problem turned out to be a defective blower motor. The electrical wiring connections were fine, but the motor itself had failed. Initially, like your case, there was zero air flow despite the HVAC system controls appearing normal. After checking with my trusted workshop, they confirmed the blower motor needed replacement. The total repair cost was 365 Euro, including parts and labor. The repair process took about 3 hours, as they needed to remove several dashboard components to access the heater fan assembly. After replacement, the air flow returned to normal and the fault codes cleared. To better assist with your specific situation, could you share: Have you noticed any unusual noises before the fan stopped working? Does the system make any sound when you adjust the fan speed? How many miles/kilometers are on your vehicle? Have you had any previous HVAC system repairs? Since your car is newer and under warranty, definitely have the dealer check it. They might find additional issues that could be covered under warranty.
