Audi A7 Keyless Entry System Complete Failure Fix

Experiencing the same door locks failure on my Audi A7 at 179684 KM. The physical key works fine in the driver door, but no other electrical functions are responding. All doors show identical issues with the central locking system. No other electrical problems noted. Getting error code B128743 on the dashboard display. Will take it to service next week, but your wiring harness solution sounds like it could be the same problem. The key fob battery is new, so that is not the cause. Thanks for the detailed repair info, helps narrow down the likely culprit.

Thanks for the additional details. Based on your error code B128743 and symptoms, this definitely mirrors my A6 issue even more closely than I initially thought. Since your kilometer reading is higher than when my problem occurred, theres an increased likelihood of wiring degradation being the root cause. The security system likely detects a communication break between components, which explains why the keyless entry and central locking functions are completely non-responsive while the mechanical key still works. The consistent failure across all doors strongly points to a central wiring issue rather than individual door lock actuators. A quick diagnostic tip before your service appointment: check the rubber boots between the door and body frame for any signs of water intrusion. In my case, moisture entering through these points contributed to the wiring corrosion. The repair shop may need to inspect these seals along with the locking mechanism wiring. The fact that no other electrical issues exist supports the theory of an isolated central locking system problem. While under repair, consider having them check the entire door wiring harness condition to prevent future issues with the car alarm or other door-related electronics. Your warranty period has likely expired, but the repair cost should be similar to what I experienced unless additional components need replacement.

The diagnostic details match my situation perfectly, especially the error code and symptoms across all doors. Good call on checking the rubber boots, I just looked and noticed some wear on the driver side that could definitely let moisture in. Makes sense this would affect the wiring over time at my mileage. Will ask them to do a full inspection of the door wiring harness when I take it in next week. Given the similar symptoms, Im expecting they will need to replace the corroded wiring and connectors for the central locking system. At least now I have a better idea what to discuss with the service department. Though Im past warranty, 95 Euro seems reasonable if it resolves both the keyless entry and central locking issues. Thanks for confirming what to look for and sharing your repair experience. Just glad the mechanical key still works as a backup while waiting to get this fixed.

As someone with moderate experience working on Audis, I had a similar issue with my 2020 Audi A6. The remote locking system completely failed, leaving me unable to use either the key fob or the door handles for keyless entry. The problem turned out to be a faulty wiring connection between the door locking mechanism and the central control unit. After checking multiple error codes, the workshop found that moisture had corroded one of the main connector plugs for the central locking system. The repair involved replacing the damaged wiring harness and connector. The total cost was 95 Euro for parts and labor, though in your case this should be covered under warranty. The fix took about 2 hours and has worked perfectly since then. Before suggesting more specific solutions, could you share: Have you noticed any other electrical issues? Do all doors show the same problem or just specific ones? Does the physical key still work in the driver door? Are you getting any specific error messages on the dashboard? This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced or if its potentially a different component of the locking system thats causing problems.
