Audi A7 Parking Assist Failure, Common Fix Guide

I dealt with a very similar issue on my 2012 Audi A6 last year. I have some experience working on cars, mainly basic maintenance and diagnostics. The parking assist system suddenly stopped responding, and the obstacle detection system would not activate when reversing. After initial diagnosis, the issue turned out to be a damaged wiring connection between the control module and the proximity sensors. The workshop found that water had gotten into one of the rear sensor connectors, causing corrosion. They had to replace the wiring harness and clean the connection points. The repair cost was 95 Euro including labor. The parking sensors themselves were actually fine, it was purely a wiring issue. Since the fix, the system has worked flawlessly. Before spending money on new sensors, I would recommend having the wiring and connections checked first, as these are common failure points in parking assist systems. Could you share if you notice any other electrical issues or if the problem started after the car was exposed to heavy rain or washing? This might help narrow down if you are facing a similar wiring problem.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Following my last service at 13745KM, I noticed the blind spot sensors were also occasionally giving false alerts, which makes me think there might be a broader electrical issue affecting multiple systems. The control module diagnostic showed error code P0467, but the proximity sensors appear physically undamaged. No water exposure or washing preceded these issues. Could the faulty wiring affecting the parking assist be related to these other sensor malfunctions?

Having experienced both parking assist and blind spot detection issues on my A6, I can confirm that multiple sensor malfunctions often point to a control module problem rather than individual sensor failures. The error code P0467 combined with false alerts from different ultrasonic sensors typically indicates an issue with the central control module that manages these systems. In my case, the workshop discovered that the parking assist control module had developed an internal fault affecting both the parking sensors and other proximity detection systems. The repair required replacing the main control module, which resolved both the parking assist malfunction and the erratic blind spot warnings. Unlike my previous wiring issue, your symptoms suggest a more systemic problem, especially since there was no water exposure and the issues appeared after service. The control module handles input from multiple radar sensors and ultrasonic sensors across different systems, so when several features start acting up simultaneously, it is usually the common denominator. The repair cost in my situation was around 450 Euro for the new module plus programming. While more expensive than a wiring repair, it permanently resolved all sensor-related issues. Would recommend having the control module specifically tested before replacing any individual components. Have you noticed any other electrical anomalies since the service? Sometimes module issues can affect other systems as well.

Your issue with the parking assist and blind spot sensors definitely sounds more complex than a simple wiring problem. The fact that multiple systems started acting up after the service suggests a possible control module malfunction. The rearview camera still works fine, so at least that part of the system is okay. I did notice the backup warning chime has been inconsistent lately, and the obstacle detection sometimes activates without any objects nearby. The false alerts from both the parking sensors and blind spot monitoring make sense if the control module is misinterpreting the radar sensor inputs. Given what others have shared about similar symptoms pointing to control module failures, I will have the workshop focus on testing the module rather than replacing individual sensors. The error code combined with multiple system issues really does indicate a central problem rather than isolated faulty wiring or bad sensors. I will get it checked out this week and report back on what they find. Hoping it is just the module and not something more complicated with the entire electrical system. Thanks for the helpful insights on tracking down these sensor-related problems.
