Audi A8 cruise control error and system error: advice and experience wanted

Hello everyone! I have a small problem with my Audi A8, built in 2005, diesel, I have 242621 km on the clock and I have noticed that the cruise control no longer works. An error is also displayed in the system. Unfortunately I had an unpleasant experience with my mechanic recently, so I'm turning to you first. Has anyone had similar problems and can tell me what the mechanic advised? Thanks for any tips!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2008 Audi A6. In my case it was a sensor problem. It was a serious thing, as it could mess up the whole electrical system. It turned out that both brake light switches and the cruise control sensor were broken, which is why the cruise control didn't work. There was also a problem with the on-board computer, which was fixed by repairing the sensor. Everything had to be replaced. It was definitely not a minor procedure, but everything worked perfectly again afterwards. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Sounds like a big effort, definitely made me feel a bit relieved that I'm not alone in this. Do you happen to remember how much this whole rebuild cost you? And has anything come up again since then or is everything running smoothly? Thanks again for your help!

Hey, I'm glad I could help! If I remember correctly, I had to fork out around €165 for the repair of the sensor. Since the mechanic repaired the cruise control, everything has been running like clockwork and I've had no further problems. So, at least in this area, I'm no longer worried. Keep your chin up!

Oh man, that still sounds like a lot of money, but if it fixes it and gets my car running reasonably again, then maybe it's worth it. Thanks for the info and encouragement.... sometimes you just need it, haha. Good to know it's been running well for you since then, gives me hope. I hope my repair goes just as smoothly. Thanks again!
