Had my last service at 40000KM and can confirm the service center did not mention any issues with the fuel door system. The fuse is fine and I do not hear any sound when pressing the release button. No response at all from the electrical system. The error code P0443 keeps showing up. The key fob also doesnt trigger the fuel filler release anymore. Started getting additional electrical fault warnings after the initial problem appeared. The passenger side controls for windows are also acting up now, which makes me think its more than just the actuator. Thanks for the detailed repair info, helps to know what I might be dealing with. Will book it in and update once fixed.

Thanks for those additional details. Given what youre describing and my experience with the same issue on my S4, I suspect youre dealing with a more complex electrical problem than what I had. The fact that your key fob isnt triggering the fuel flap and youre experiencing issues with the passenger window controls points toward a potential wiring harness problem or a faulty control module. The error code P0443 typically relates to the evaporative emission control system, which is connected to the fuel system. In my case, it was just the mechanical fuel door actuator and cable release mechanism. Your symptoms suggest the issue might be affecting multiple systems. When my fuel flap failed, it was isolated to just that system with no other electrical gremlins. The repair costs might be higher than what I paid (210 Euro) if its indeed a wiring or control module issue. Based on the symptoms, Id estimate between 400-600 Euro depending on what needs replacing. Important: If you need to access the fuel door immediately, most Audi models have an emergency release cord in the trunk behind the side panel. This might help you at least get fuel while waiting for repairs.

Based on all that info, Ill proceed with booking a repair slot tomorrow. The emergency release cord tip is especially helpful since Im running pretty low on fuel. Will check the trunk panel tonight. The multiple electrical issues definitely make this sound more serious than a simple lock actuator problem. Having the passenger window controls affected probably means its a bigger electrical fault like you mentioned. Really helpful to know the typical repair costs too. Will budget for around 600 Euro to be safe, given all the symptoms. The P0443 code combined with the key fob and fuel flap issues does suggest a more complex problem than just a mechanical failure. Will post back with the actual diagnosis and repair details once its sorted. Thanks for sharing your experience, helps to go into the workshop knowing what questions to ask.

I had a similar issue with my 2014 Audi S4 about six months ago. Have some experience with basic car maintenance, but this was definitely a workshop job. The fuel door release mechanism stopped working completely without warning. After checking the fuse (which was fine), I had it towed to a workshop since the fuel flap was completely stuck. The diagnosis revealed a defective linkage in the release mechanism that connects to the fuel door actuator. The cable release system had worn out over time and eventually failed. They had to replace both the actuator and the connecting linkage. Total repair cost was 210 Euro, including parts and labor. The repair took about 2 hours to complete. In your case, it sounds very similar, especially with the error codes. Would you mind sharing: Have you checked the fuse? Does the fuel door make any sound when pressing the release button? Are there any other electrical issues in that area of the car? Which error code are you getting specifically? This information would help determine if youre dealing with the same issue I had.
