Thanks for the feedback on my issue. Since my last service at 120428 KM, I have been looking into potential fixes. You raise good points about the signal interference patterns. The problem definitely gets worse in wet conditions, suggesting moisture could be affecting the antenna connection points. The key fob battery is new, so that is not the source. The issue started gradually about 2 months ago, with the car antenna system becoming increasingly unreliable. No other electrical problems have appeared. The fm antenna and radio functions continue working normally, which helped isolate the keyless entry antenna as the likely culprit. Will take it in to check the connection points rather than immediately replacing the whole antenna mount. The repair cost you mentioned seems reasonable if it solves the problem.

Thanks for the additional details. The symptoms you describe are nearly identical to what I experienced, especially the correlation with wet weather. This really reinforces my initial suspicion about corroded antenna connections being the root cause. Since your service history and mileage are similar to what mine was when the issue occurred, its likely following the same failure pattern. The automotive antenna system in these models tends to develop connection issues around this age, particularly where the wiring meets the antenna mount. The gradual onset and weather sensitivity you mentioned perfectly matches the signal interference pattern I saw before my repair. My technician explained that moisture slowly degrades the connection quality over time, leading to progressively worse keyless system performance. Good call on planning to check the connections first. When they repaired mine, they found green corrosion on the antenna terminals, a clear sign of moisture damage. After cleaning and resealing the connections, plus replacing one damaged wire section, the system worked perfectly again. Since your symptoms so closely match my experience, I would bet you are looking at a similar antenna repair rather than a full replacement. The 95 Euro repair cost I mentioned included diagnostic time, so yours might even be less if they can get straight to the known issue.

Based on your detailed response, I think youve accurately diagnosed my issue. The corrosion pattern and gradual signal deterioration you described matches my situation perfectly. Since the problems getting worse in wet weather and the vehicle antenna system shows the same symptoms, Ill definitely have them check those connection points first. The timing makes sense too, at my current mileage, its exactly when these antenna mount issues seem to develop. Glad to hear a full antenna replacement probably wont be needed. A repair cost around 95 Euro would be manageable, especially compared to replacing the entire keyless entry system. Ill book it in next week to have those antenna connections checked and cleaned. The radio signal staying strong while only the key system fails really does point to those corroded terminals you mentioned. Thanks for helping narrow down the problem and sharing your repair experience.

I had a very similar issue with my 2013 A3 last year, and as someone with some hands-on experience working on cars, I understand how frustrating these electrical gremlins can be. The symptoms matched exactly what you describe, keyless entry failing, needing to use the physical key, and those annoying key system warnings. After initial diagnosis, it turned out the antenna repair was needed due to a damaged cable connection in the keyless entry system. The fix cost 95 Euro and primarily involved addressing a faulty wire connection to the antenna mount, rather than requiring a complete antenna replacement. The workshop found that moisture had corroded one of the connection points, causing intermittent signal issues with the key system. While the car radio and radio signal remained unaffected throughout, the keyless entry antenna operates on a completely different system. The repair took about an hour, and the issue hasn't returned since. Before suggesting more specific solutions, could you share: Has the issue gotten worse over time or did it start suddenly? Are there any other electrical issues present? Have you noticed if the problem is worse in wet weather? Does the key fob have a fresh battery? This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced or if it might be something different.
