Audi Q2 Climate System Complete Failure & Fix Tips

Recently my 2023 Audi Q2 has developed issues with the climate control system. The heating barely works and the air conditioning wont turn on at all. The car shows an error code and the climate control panel seems unresponsive. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms? The blower motor is not engaging either. Would be great to hear about successful repairs and what parts needed replacement, trying to get an idea before taking it to a workshop. Particularly interested if it could be related to electrical connectors or the wiring harness, since the entire system seems dead.

I had something very similar happen with my 2021 Audi Q3. As someone with some experience working on car electronics, I initially thought it might be a major system failure, but it turned out to be much simpler. The issue was traced to faulty electrical connectors behind the climate control module. The wiring harness connection had worked loose over time, causing intermittent power supply issues to the blower motor and control panel. I first noticed it when the system became completely unresponsive, just like yours. Took it to a workshop where they diagnosed and fixed the electronic faults by replacing some corroded connectors and securing the wiring harness properly. The total repair cost was 95 Euro, mainly for labor since the replacement connectors were inexpensive. To help troubleshoot your specific case, could you share: Have you noticed any other electrical issues? Does the problem occur more often when driving over bumpy roads? Are there any other warning lights on the dashboard? Can you hear any clicking sounds when trying to operate the climate controls? These details would help determine if your Q2 is experiencing the same connector issue I had with my Q3.

Thanks for sharing your experience. At 39104 KM during my last service just 2 weeks ago, everything was working perfectly. The HVAC system problems started quite suddenly last week. No other electrical issues present and the temperature sensor seems to be working as it displays the current cabin temperature correctly. I can confirm there are clicking sounds when pressing the climate control buttons, but the blower motor remains silent. The issue persists regardless of road conditions. The fact your repair involved the wiring harness gives me hope this might be a straightforward fix rather than a complete system replacement. No other warning lights are showing on the dashboard, which seems to support the connector theory rather than a more serious system failure. Hearing that your repair cost was relatively low at 95 Euro is encouraging. Will schedule a diagnostic check focused on the electrical connections you mentioned.

Thanks for those additional details about your Q2. After hearing about the clicking sounds and that the temperature sensor is still displaying correctly, I am even more convinced your issue matches what I experienced with my Q3. The fact that your blower motor is completely silent while the control panel makes clicking sounds strongly points to an electrical connection issue. In my case, the workshop found that despite the clicking from the climate control panel, the signal wasnt reaching the blower motor due to the loose connections. Since your HVAC system was working perfectly during the recent service and failed suddenly, this further supports the wiring connection theory. The clicking response from the control panel buttons indicates the panel itself is receiving power, but something is interrupting the signal to the rest of the system. Based on the repair of my Q3, I would suggest having them check: The main wiring harness connection to the blower motor, The connectors between the climate control panel and the main HVAC control module, The ground connections for the entire system This should be a relatively straightforward diagnostic process for a qualified workshop. Since your symptoms are nearly identical to what I experienced, I expect you will be looking at a similar repair cost around 100 Euro, assuming no additional issues are found.

Thanks everyone for your insights. After researching this more based on your feedback, I am now feeling more confident about the potential cause and fix. The similarity between my Q2s symptoms and the Q3 case is striking. The fact that my climate control panel clicks but shows no other response really does suggest a connection issue in the wiring harness or electrical connectors. The power supply seems to reach the control panel itself but goes no further. What gives me the most hope is that the temperature sensor still works and there are no other electrical problems. If the main control module or power supply was faulty, I would expect to see more widespread issues. I have booked the car in for next week, specifically asking them to check the electrical connectors and wiring harness connections to the blower motor first. The 95 Euro repair cost mentioned seems reasonable if it turns out to be the same issue. Will update this thread once I get the diagnosis and repair completed. Thanks again for helping me narrow down the likely cause before taking it to the workshop.
