Thanks for the detailed explanation of the speed sensor issue. My Q2 showed similar symptoms and the mechanic found it was indeed the sensor connection that needed attention. The throttle position sensor was also checked but turned out fine. Did the dashboard light for cruise control disappear right after the repair? Wondering if you remember the total cost too. Been a few weeks since my fix and no problems so far, but always good to hear about long-term reliability from others.

After getting the cruise control fixed at the shop, the dashboard light immediately disappeared and never came back. The repair involved cleaning and properly reconnecting a cable assembly near the speed sensor, total bill was 95 Euro, which seemed fair for the diagnostic work and fix. The mechanic confirmed the speed sensor connection was the root cause, just like in your case. Been driving for months now without any warning lights or cruise control issues. The pedal switch and all steering wheel controls work perfectly again. Best part is knowing it was just a connection problem rather than a complete speed sensor replacement, which would have cost significantly more. These connection issues seem pretty common in our Audi models, but once properly fixed, they stay fixed.

Good news, finally got it all sorted! Took it to a new mechanic who diagnosed the speed sensor issue right away. Total repair came to 120 Euro, which included cleaning the connections and replacing one damaged wire. The dashboard light cleared immediately after the fix. The mechanic showed me where the speed sensor connects and explained how dirt and vibration can cause these issues over time. Much better experience than my last repair shop, they actually took time to explain everything and even checked the pedal switch while they were at it. Been driving for about three weeks now and the cruise control works perfectly. No more error codes or warning lights on the dash. Feels good to have it working properly again, especially since I was worried it might need expensive parts replaced.

Had the same problem with my 2015 Audi Q3 2.0 TSI. The cruise control failure was traced to a faulty speed sensor connection near the transmission. The main symptoms matched exactly, complete system shutdown and error codes on the dash. The speed sensor plays a crucial role since cruise control relies on accurate speed data. In most cases, the issue stems from three common points: 1. Speed sensor wiring harness deterioration 2. Corroded connections at the sensor plug 3. Failed speed sensor unit The steering wheel clock spring rarely causes isolated cruise control issues. When it fails, multiple systems typically show errors simultaneously. This repair requires specialized diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact failure point. A proper fix involves: Complete system diagnostic scan, Speed sensor signal testing, Cleaning or replacing connector pins, Possibly replacing the entire speed sensor assembly The repair is not particularly complex but requires careful attention to prevent future connection issues. The fix is permanent when done correctly and no recurring problems occurred since the repair. Before heading to a shop, check the fuse box for any blown fuses related to cruise control, this is a quick and simple first step that might save time and money.
