Thanks for the detailed response. Last service was at 42000KM, about 2 months ago. Having checked the error messages on my scan tool, its showing fault code P3021 for the fuel door control module. The key fob works fine for all other functions including central locking. The lock actuator makes no sound at all when pressing the release button, suggesting a complete electrical failure rather than a mechanical issue. Getting quite urgent as fuel level is now below quarter tank. The emergency cable release mentioned in the manual seems jammed too, so manual override isnt working. Will try disconnecting the battery tonight to see if resetting the system helps before booking a workshop appointment.

Based on your scan results showing P3021, it sounds identical to the fault code I encountered with my Q3. The lock actuator failure pattern matches exactly, complete silence when pressing the release button points to an electrical fault in the system, not just a mechanical jam. I also tried the battery disconnect method you mentioned, but it did not resolve the issue in my case. The emergency release cable being stuck is concerning, as this was a secondary symptom that confirmed total actuator failure in my situation. A few quick things to check while waiting for repair: Verify fuse F42 is not blown, Test voltage at the actuator connector if accessible, Listen for clicking from the fuel flap release mechanism The lock actuator replacement ended up being the only solution that worked. Given your symptoms match mine so closely, particularly the P3021 code and unresponsive release button, you will likely need the same repair. Would strongly recommend not delaying the workshop visit given your fuel level. The repair time is relatively short once parts are available, but driving with very low fuel risks damaging the fuel pump.

Thank you for all the suggestions and thorough diagnosis help. After checking the fuse and trying the battery disconnect without success, I went ahead and booked a workshop appointment for tomorrow morning. You were right about not waiting, my fuel gauge is now showing the red warning light. The fuel flap remains completely locked, and the cable release is still jammed. I did check the voltage at the actuator connector as suggested, and got no reading, which confirms the electric actuator has completely failed. Based on your similar experience and repair costs, I will budget around 250 Euro for the complete fix, including the new lock actuator and labor. Will make sure they check the entire fuel filler mechanism during repair, since both the electronic and manual release systems are affected. Really appreciate the detailed breakdown of your repair experience, it helped me understand exactly what Im dealing with and make an informed decision about the fix.

Having dealt with a similar fuel flap issue on my 2018 Audi Q3 diesel, I can relate to this problem. I have some experience with fuel system components and their electrical connections. The symptoms you describe match what I encountered, a completely unresponsive release mechanism and error messages. The electrical fault was traced to a faulty electric actuator in my case. After initial diagnosis, the workshop found the linkage was defective and needed complete replacement. The repair involved: Full diagnosis of the electrical system, Replacement of the fuel flap release mechanism, Installation of new actuator components, System reset and testing Total cost was 210 Euro including parts and labor. The repair took about 2 hours to complete. Before suggesting specific solutions, could you provide: Exact error messages showing on your dash, Whether the key fob functions work normally for other operations, Any unusual sounds when pressing the release button, History of previous issues with the locking system This information would help determine if your issue matches the common actuator failure pattern these models sometimes experience.
