Wow, thanks for the detailed reply. Your experience sounds exactly like my transmission issues. Good to know the gearbox sensor calibration helped fix the rough gear shifting. How much did you end up paying for the whole transmission repair job? Also wondering if youve had any other transmission problems pop up since getting it fixed? Mine is still under extended warranty but Im worried about future repair costs after it expires. The local Audi dealership quoted me 950 Euro just for diagnostics which seems steep. Trying to get an idea of what to expect for the full repair if its the same problem you had.

Great news, got the transmission repair completed and it completely resolved the rough shifting issues. The faulty transmission oil temperature sensor was causing incorrect readings, and the gearbox oil level was running too low. Total cost came to 365 Euro which covered: New transmission oil temperature sensor, Fresh transmission oil, Gearbox oil level correction, Full system calibration No transmission problems at all in the 8 months since the repair. The car shifts smoothly again and all warning lights cleared up. That 950 Euro diagnostic quote sounds excessive, might be worth checking independent transmission repair specialists who really know these systems. Quick tip from my experience: keeping up with regular transmission oil changes helps prevent overheating problems and sensor failures. Much cheaper than waiting for things to go wrong. The transmission repair definitely fixed all the issues. Would have been much more expensive if I had waited until the transmission was damaged from running with low oil.

Thanks for the advice. Finally got my transmission issues sorted out last week! Found a specialized transmission repair shop through a. The mechanic immediately spotted the overheating problems were caused by low transmission oil and a faulty sensor. They did a thorough check and found metal particles in the old oil, which explained the grinding sounds. The final bill came to 420 Euro including: New transmission oil and filter, Gearbox sensor replacement, System diagnostics, Labor costs Much better than the dealership quote. The automatic transmission now shifts perfectly smooth again with no warning lights. Really glad I caught it before any major damage happened. Definitely learned my lesson about regular transmission maintenance. Already scheduled the next service to avoid future transmission issues. The mechanic showed me everything they fixed and explained the whole process. Way better experience than my previous repair attempts. Car feels like new again!

Had similar issues on my 2015 Audi A3 2.0 TFSI. The symptoms match a common transmission oil level problem that often triggers the emergency mode. The automatic transmission started showing rough shifts between gears, especially from 2nd to 3rd. The transmission sensor triggered multiple fault codes, but the root cause was actually low transmission oil level. The gearbox sensor readings were inaccurate due to the low oil condition. The transmission repair involved: Full transmission oil level check, Replacing the transmission oil and filter, Recalibrating the gearbox sensor, Running a complete transmission diagnostic This was a serious issue that required immediate attention to prevent permanent transmission damage. Delaying repairs could have led to complete transmission failure. The grinding noise typically indicates metal-on-metal contact due to insufficient lubrication. The automatic transmission returned to normal operation after proper oil level restoration and sensor calibration. These symptoms should not be ignored as they can quickly escalate to major transmission repairs if left unchecked. Worth noting that Audi transmissions are sensitive to oil quality and level. Regular transmission maintenance helps prevent these issues.
