Audi Q7 Blower Fan Failure: Repair Guide & Costs

Looking for advice on my climate control issue in my 2021 Audi Q7 gas model (11429 km). The cabin fan stopped working completely and throwing an error code. Had a bad experience with my regular mechanic last time, so I am hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with a similar blower motor failure? Really need some recommendations on reliable fixes and what to expect for repair costs.

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around a blower fan failure in a 2021 Audi Q7, where the cabin fan stopped working and displayed error codes. The issue was identified as faulty wiring and a dead blower motor, requiring a full replacement of the blower assembly and wiring harness. It was advised to have the repair done by a shop experienced with Audi HVAC systems to ensure proper diagnosis and avoid unnecessary part replacements. The repair was successful, restoring full functionality to the HVAC system, and the user expressed satisfaction with the outcome despite the higher cost.

Had the same problem with a 2018 Audi Q5 when the heater fan stopped responding to fan speed controller inputs. The HVAC system showed similar symptoms, no air flow and error codes on the display. The issue turned out to be more complex than just a failed blower motor. After inspection, the problem was traced to faulty electrical wiring between the blower motor resistor and the climate control module. The whole blower motor assembly needed replacement along with the wiring harness. This is generally a serious repair that requires specialized diagnostic equipment to properly identify the root cause. The repair involves removing several dashboard components to access the HVAC system components. The job typically takes 4-5 hours for a qualified technician to complete. For this type of issue, it is recommended to have it serviced at a shop with experience in Audi HVAC systems, as proper diagnostic testing is essential to avoid replacing parts unnecessarily. The blower motor malfunction can also indicate other underlying electrical issues that need addressing. Not something to postpone fixing, as proper cabin ventilation is important for both comfort and safety, especially for windshield defrosting functionality.

Thanks for the detailed info on the blower motor repair. Those air conditioning issues can be tricky. I got my Q7 fixed about 4 months ago with very similar symptoms, no cabin fan operation and error codes on the display. My case also required a full replacement of the blower assembly. Did you track what the total cost ended up being for your repair? And has everything been working properly with the heater fan since the fix? Just wondering if any other electrical gremlins popped up afterward.

Had the repair done and can confirm everything has been running perfectly with the HVAC system since then. The fresh air blower works flawlessly now, no error codes or air circulation issues. Total cost came to 365 Euro for the complete job, including the new blower motor and labor. The electrical wiring has been solid with no additional problems showing up in the cabin fan system. It was definitely worth getting it fixed by a qualified shop that knew how to properly diagnose and repair these specific HVAC components. Having proper air flow restored makes such a difference in daily driving comfort. Been about 16 months since the repair and the heater fan continues to work exactly as it should, with smooth operation at all speed settings. No electrical gremlins or related issues have surfaced since the fix.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. Finally took my Q7 to a certified shop last week after getting tired of driving without proper air circulation. The mechanic found the same issue, faulty wiring and a dead blower motor. Repair cost was steeper at 450 Euro but they did a thorough job replacing both the motor and wiring harness. The cabin fan is working perfectly now. Air conditioning and all fan speeds are back to normal. Such a relief to have proper HVAC system function again, especially for the upcoming weather changes. No regrets going with a specialist shop this time instead of my regular mechanic. The extra cost was worth it for the proper diagnosis and complete fix of the heater fan assembly. Already put 500km on it since the repair with zero issues.
