Audi Q7 Turn Signal Fault: Quick Fix Guide

Thanks for the information about the faulty connector and relay replacement. My Q7 just had its annual service at 122236KM, during which they did a full inspection but somehow missed this signal lamp issue. The fault occurs out of nowhere, not tied to specific turns or conditions. The error message shows signal lamp malfunction left side front. Running the diagnostic scan shows error code B1214. Interestingly, the turn signal works fine most of the time, but occasionally flashes rapidly before throwing the error. Since it seems similar to your case, I will have them check the wiring connections and flasher relay first before replacing any bulbs or the entire lamp assembly.

Thanks for those additional details. Your symptoms sound identical to what I experienced with my Q5, especially the unusual occurrence and rapid flashing. The rapid flash pattern before the error message is actually a strong indicator of an electrical fault in the signal circuit rather than just a broken lens or bulb replacement issue. Since your car just had service, definitely have them check those connections first. In my case, the rapid flashing started happening more frequently over time before becoming a constant issue. The connector corrosion was hidden behind the headlight assembly, which explains why it might have been missed during routine inspection. For the error code B1214, this typically points to a circuit problem rather than a faulty bulb. When they traced my wiring, they found the corroded connector had created resistance in the circuit, triggering the irregular flashing and error messages. The indicator light would work normally until enough heat built up in the bad connection. A full diagnostic scan should be covered under the recent service warranty. Make sure they thoroughly check: All wiring connectors in the signal circuit, The flasher relay functionality, Ground connections near the headlight assembly, The entire indicator light circuit for voltage drops The repair should cost significantly less than replacing the complete lamp assembly if its indeed just a connection issue like mine was.

Based on what you have shared regarding the turn indicator issue and possible connection problems, I will get it checked out. The rapid flashing followed by error messages seems a clear sign of an electrical fault rather than a basic bulb replacement need. Will book it in next week and have them focus on checking the wiring connections and flasher relay first. The signal lamp malfunction is more likely caused by a corroded connector or circuit issue, especially given the error code B1214 pointing to electrical problems rather than the lamp assembly itself. Good to know the diagnostic scan should be covered under the recent service. Will make sure they thoroughly inspect the entire indicator light circuit including all connectors and ground points. Should hopefully be a straightforward fix like in your case rather than needing the whole assembly replaced. Will update once I know more about what they find with the turn signal system. Thanks again for sharing your similar experience, helped narrow down where to start with the troubleshooting.

Had the exact same indicator light issue on my 2016 Q5. Started with error messages and a lighting fault showing up. With some experience working on cars, I initially thought it was just a bulb, but it turned out to be more complex. The flasher relay and wiring connections were the actual culprits. The workshop found a damaged connector that was causing an electrical fault in the lighting system. They had to trace the entire circuit to locate the exact problem point. The repair process involved: Full diagnostic scan, Testing the indicator light circuit, Replacing a corroded plug connection, Installing a new flasher relay, Final testing of all automotive lighting functions Total cost was 95 Euro including parts and labor. Pretty straightforward fix once they identified the real issue. What specific error messages are you seeing? Also, have you noticed any pattern to when the fault occurs, like during turning or when using hazard lights? Knowing your exact model specs and whether there was any recent work done on the lighting system would help provide more relevant advice.
