Thanks for sharing that experience. The same happened to my Audi Q8 last winter. The key battery replacement did not fix the issue completely. My electronic key still showed warnings and the keyless entry was unreliable. The dealer had to recalibrate the whole system and clear those persistent error codes. The fob battery swap was just the start, the key needed full reprogramming to work properly again. Do you remember what the total repair cost was? Did you have any more issues with the keyless system since the fix?

Just checked my records from that repair on my Q7. The total came to 37 Euro to fix everything with the auto key system. After the mechanic cleared the error codes and reprogrammed the key fob battery warning disappeared completely. The keyless entry has worked flawlessly since then, no more low voltage warnings or problems with locking and unlocking. Worth every cent to have it done properly rather than just replacing the key battery and hoping for the best. It has been over a year now with zero issues. The car key functions perfectly and the system works as intended. Make sure they fully recalibrate everything when you go in, as this seems to be the key to preventing the warning from coming back.

After visiting the dealer for my Q8, I can confirm I had almost the same experience. The total repair cost was around 45 Euro, which included the key fob battery and reprogramming service. The technician explained that without proper recalibration, the auto key system would keep showing errors even with a new battery. The fix took about an hour, and they ran a complete diagnostic to ensure everything was properly synced. The keyless entry now works perfectly, no more low voltage warnings or unlocking issues. Definitely worth getting it done professionally rather than continuing to struggle with an improperly calibrated system. It has been six months since the repair, and I have not experienced any further problems with the key fob or keyless system. The dealer visit ended up being necessary despite my initial hesitation about repair costs.

Had similar problems with my 2015 Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI. The key battery replacement alone did not solve the recurring low battery warnings. After replacing the key battery, the system still showed error codes because the key needed reprogramming. The keyless entry system has multiple components working together, the key fob itself, the door handle sensors, and the car's central control unit. In my case, it turned out the key fob receiver in the car needed recalibration after the dead key battery was replaced. This required dealer diagnostic equipment to clear the stored error codes and sync the key properly with the vehicle systems. The fix required specialized programming at an authorized service center. It was not a serious mechanical issue, but definitely not something that could be resolved at home. The key battery replacement is just step one, the system needs proper recalibration afterward to function correctly. Would recommend having the dealer check the complete keyless entry system, as continuing to use it with errors could potentially cause the system to fail completely. They can also verify if there are any other underlying issues with the door handles or antenna modules.
