Audi RS6 Fuel Sensor Issues Causing Multiple Problems

Looking for advice on my Audi RS6 (2014) thats acting up lately. Having issues with the check engine light staying on, engine stalling at idle, and noticeable power loss. The diagnostic scan suggests a fuel rail pressure sensor fault. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Mainly interested in repair experiences and if replacing the sensor fixed these issues or if it pointed to other problems. Would appreciate hearing about repair costs and whether you needed any specialized parts.

I faced nearly identical symptoms with my 2012 Audi S6, and being someone with moderate DIY repair experience, I initially tried diagnosing it myself using a scan tool. The check engine light and engine stalling issues were definitely nerve-wracking. After monitoring the fuel pressure readings, it became clear the sensor signal was inconsistent. The workshop confirmed the fuel rail pressure sensor was failing, causing the ECU to receive incorrect readings and adjust fuel delivery improperly. The repair cost me 240 Euro total, including parts and labor. The replacement sensor resolved all issues, no more stalling, power loss disappeared, and the check engine light cleared up. The car has been running perfectly since then. What specific diagnostic codes are you getting? Also, have you noticed if the stalling happens more frequently when the engine is warm or cold? These details would help determine if your situation matches what I experienced. Worth noting that working with fuel system components can be tricky due to residual pressure in the fuel rail. If you consider DIY, make sure to follow proper safety procedures, though I recommend having a professional handle fuel system repairs.

Thanks to everyone who replied. Got the car back from service today at 127175 KM and wanted to share the outcome. The fuel injection system testing confirmed a faulty fuel rail pressure sensor causing the engine performance issues. Total repair was 290 Euro including parts and labor. Engine running smoothly now with no check engine light or stalling. Good to have this sorted before it caused more serious problems.

Great to hear you got the repair done and your RS6 is running properly again. Our experiences match up perfectly, both cars had similar symptoms caused by the failing rail pressure sensor. The repair cost was in the same ballpark too. The stable engine performance and cleared check engine light confirm it was the right diagnosis. These diesel engine fuel systems are quite sensitive to pressure variations, so a faulty sensor can really impact drivability. Have you noticed any improvement in fuel economy since the repair? After my sensor replacement, I saw better efficiency once the fuel rail pressure was being measured correctly again. Keep monitoring for any unusual behavior, but based on my experience, this fix should be long-lasting. My S6 has run flawlessly for over 50000km since the sensor replacement.

Thanks everyone for the helpful feedback. The fuel economy has definitely improved since getting the pressure sensor replaced, about 15% better than before. Really glad I addressed this early, as the diesel engine is running much smoother now with no more stalling issues. The check engine light has stayed off and power delivery feels normal again. The 290 Euro repair cost was worth it for the peace of mind. For anyone else facing similar symptoms, having the fuel rail pressure tested early on can save you from more expensive problems down the road.
