Audi RS7 Suspension Warning Signals Major Control Issue

My car just had its service at 66163KM last month. The suspension feels consistently harsh regardless of the selected drive mode and there is a distinct knocking sound from the front right wheel area. The error codes showing are C1124 and C1101, suggesting possible issues with the damping control module. The car handling has definitely deteriorated over the past few weeks. I appreciate the detailed response about the wiring connection issue. While that would be the best case scenario, the knocking sound makes me think my suspension issue might be more mechanical in nature. The shock absorber on that corner may need attention.

Thanks for the additional details. The knocking sound you describe is quite different from my wiring issue, and combined with those error codes, points to a more significant suspension failure. After dealing with my initial wiring problem, I actually faced a similar knocking issue about 6 months later. The front right shock absorber had failed, causing poor ride comfort and that distinctive knocking noise you mentioned. The error codes were identical to yours. The repair involved replacing: Front right shock absorber assembly, Upper mount bearing, Related bushings Total cost was around 850 Euro including parts and labor. The suspension tuning afterward restored proper handling and eliminated all noise issues. Given the similarities in symptoms and error codes, I strongly suspect your RS7 has a failed shock absorber rather than just a control module issue. The recent service timing is unfortunate but unrelated, these electronic suspension components can fail without warning regardless of maintenance. Consider getting it checked soon, as continuing to drive with a faulty shock absorber can impact other suspension components and overall ride safety.

I really appreciate the insights and comparative experience. The price point for the repair you mentioned seems reasonable considering the components involved. That knocking sound definitely had me worried it would be a major suspension system overhaul, so hearing that a shock absorber replacement solved an identical issue is somewhat reassuring. The workshop has an opening next week, so I will get it checked then. Given the matching error codes and similar symptoms, I will make sure they specifically inspect the front right shock absorber assembly and associated components. The deteriorating handling is concerning enough that I want to address this suspension failure promptly. Will update once I get a proper diagnosis, but based on the issues you described, I am fairly confident we are dealing with the same type of suspension issue. Thanks for helping me narrow down the likely cause before heading to the workshop.

Had a similar suspension tuning issue with my 2015 RS6. Being somewhat experienced with suspension problems, I recognized the symptoms immediately, that harsh ride is definitely a red flag when it comes to damping control. Took it to my regular workshop and they diagnosed a faulty wiring connection to the electronic damping control unit. The cable connection had worked loose over time, causing erratic suspension behavior and triggering the warning light. The fix was relatively straightforward, they located and repaired the damaged connection point, then cleared the error codes. Total repair came to 95 Euro including diagnostic work. The ride comfort returned to normal immediately after the repair. No need for expensive shock absorber replacements in my case, which was a relief. For a more accurate diagnosis of your RS7, could you share: Does the suspension feel consistently harsh or does it vary? Are you noticing any unusual noises from the suspension system? Which specific error codes are showing up? Has the car suspension been serviced recently? This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced or if something else might be causing the problem.
