Audi RSQ3 Engine & Oil Lights Post-Repair Alert

I recently got my 2014 Audi RSQ3 (gas engine, 85514km) back from the mechanic and now both the check engine and oil pressure warning lights are on. Pretty worried about potential oil contamination since my last mechanic visit wasnt great. Anyone experienced similar issues with these warning lights coming on together? Not sure if I should drive it back to the shop or find a different mechanic. The car runs but Id rather be safe than sorry.

Had a similar situation with my 2011 Audi RS4 after a routine service. The simultaneous oil pressure and check engine warnings often point to oil system issues. When this happened, the problem traced back to improper oil filter installation causing an oil leak near the housing seal. The combination of these warning lights requires immediate attention. With RS engines being high-performance units, oil contamination or insufficient oil pressure can cause severe engine damage. The symptoms match what happens when maintenance intervals are exceeded or when service work is not done correctly. The safest action is to stop driving immediately. Even short distances can risk engine damage if oil pressure is actually low. In my case, the repair involved replacing the oil filter, cleaning the oil pressure sensor connections, and performing a complete oil change with proper specification oil. This type of issue typically indicates either: Faulty oil pressure sensor, Oil filter installation problems, Oil sludge buildup, Actual low oil pressure condition Given the previous unsatisfactory service experience mentioned, having another qualified Audi specialist inspect the vehicle would be advisable. The risk of serious engine damage makes this a time-sensitive issue.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the RS4. Your situation sounds very similar to mine. After reading about the oil filter installation problem you had, I checked under my RSQ3 and noticed some oil spots on the ground, definitely concerning. Could you share what the repair ended up costing? Also wondering if youve had any recurring engine oil issues since getting it fixed? My regular mechanic quoted a pretty high price for diagnostics alone, so Im trying to get an idea of what to expect cost-wise.

After getting my RS4 properly checked and fixed, I can confirm the oil contamination issue was fully resolved. The main problem was indeed the poorly installed oil filter causing those warning lights, just like your RSQ3 seems to be experiencing now. The total repair came to 165 Euro, which covered fixing the maintenance interval that had been exceeded. This included a thorough oil system inspection, new oil filter installation, and a complete engine oil change using the correct specification oil. Looking back, it was worth every cent since preventing engine damage is crucial with these performance engines. Since the repair, I havent had any oil leaks or warning lights come back on. Those oil spots youre seeing definitely need addressing though, letting an active oil leak continue could lead to serious engine damage. The diagnostic fee might seem steep, but considering the complexity of these engines and the potential repair costs if left unchecked, its a worthwhile investment. Based on my experience, I strongly suggest getting it looked at by a qualified specialist who really knows these engines. The initial cost might be higher, but proper repair prevents more expensive problems down the road.

Following up on this whole situation. Took the RSQ3 to a different specialist who diagnosed the issue within an hour. Turns out the original mechanic installed the wrong oil filter and didnt properly tighten it, causing the engine oil to leak. The loose filter was also letting air into the system, triggering both warning lights. The repair ended up costing 210 Euro total, including a complete engine oil flush to prevent any oil contamination, new filter, and fresh oil. The oil color coming out was pretty concerning, way darker than it should have been after just a few days. The new shop showed me exactly what went wrong and even demonstrated the proper oil filter installation procedure. No more oil leaks or warning lights now, and the engine runs smoother than before. Definitely learned my lesson about sticking with qualified specialists for these performance engines. Think I dodged a bullet here, could have been much worse if I had kept driving it. At least now I know what to watch out for and wont make the same mistake with my choice of mechanic again.
