Audi S1 Alarm System Failure: Fix Revealed

Having trouble with my 2015 Audi S1 automotive alarm system. The security system suddenly stopped working and throws a constant error code. Suspect it might be a siren communication fault, but not entirely sure. The vehicle security features are completely unresponsive. Looking for anyone who faced similar fault detection issues with their S1 alarm, what was the root cause and how did your workshop fix it? Specifically interested in whether it turned out to be a wiring issue or a security breach in the control module. Any insight on repair costs would be helpful too.

As someone with some hands-on experience with Audi alarms, I faced a very similar automotive alarm issue on my 2013 Audi S3. The symptoms were nearly identical, complete system unresponsiveness and persistent error codes related to the alarm system. After troubleshooting attempts to perform an alarm reset failed, I took it to a workshop. They diagnosed a faulty connection between the alarm control module and the main wiring harness. The signal problem was caused by corroded pins in one of the plugs. The repair involved: Complete diagnostic scan, Cleaning the connector pins, Replacing the damaged plug, Testing the alarm system functionality, Final alarm system programming Total cost was 95 Euro for parts and labor. The fix took about 2 hours and has worked flawlessly since then. For your S1, could you share: Whether the issue started suddenly or developed gradually, If you notice any patterns when the fault occurs, Whether you can still lock/unlock the car normally, If there are any other electrical issues present This information would help determine if your case matches the wiring fault I experienced or points to a different root cause.

Thanks for the detailed reply. My Audi S1 currently shows 198661 KM and had its last service 3 months ago. The alarm controller issue started quite abruptly after a heavy rain. I can confirm the central locking works fine and no other electrical problems are present. The vehicle security system just suddenly went into fault mode without warning. The alarm triggers out of nowhere even when properly disarmed, which points to a possible moisture-related issue with the alarm system connections rather than a full security breach. Will try getting those connectors checked based on your experience.

Thanks for providing those extra details. The rain connection definitely strengthens the case for a moisture-related wiring issue, similar to what I encountered with my S3. The unusual triggering of the alarm system is a classic symptom of water infiltration affecting the connector pins. In my case, moisture had created oxidation on the pins, causing intermittent fault detection issues before the system failed completely. A workshop might want to specifically check: The main alarm siren connector, The hood switch wiring connections, The control module ground points, Any water drainage points near the alarm components Since your central locking works normally, this further aligns with my experience of an isolated wiring issue rather than a complete control module failure. The repair cost should be similar to what I paid (around 95 Euro) if its indeed just corroded connections. A thorough drying and cleaning of the connections might resolve the fault detection problems, but given the mileage, replacing the affected connectors would be the more reliable long-term fix for the automotive alarm system.

Thanks for all the input. I should give an update after taking a deeper look at my S1 today. The alarm controller issue definitely seems moisture-related as suspected. Found water residue near the hood sensor area, which explains the unusual alarm triggering even after attempting an alarm disarm sequence. Spoke with a local workshop and they quoted 120 Euro for a complete diagnostic check, cleaning, and replacement of any corroded wiring connections. Will schedule the repair next week since the automotive alarm keeps acting up and the fault detection is getting more frequent. Good catch on checking the connection points, saved me from potentially replacing the entire alarm system unnecessarily. Will update once the wiring issue is properly fixed.
