Audi S5 Power Windows Dead, All Controls Failed

Need help with S5 power windows, all 4 completely dead. Seeing error codes but unsure if its just the window regulator or something bigger. Last mechanic visit left me skeptical, so looking for experiences before taking it in again. Car is a 2022 S5 with 101009km on the clock. Has anyone dealt with complete window control failure, what was the actual issue and repair cost in your case?

Faced a similar complete window failure on my 2019 Audi A5 Sportback. The symptoms matched exactly, all power windows stopped working simultaneously, suggesting a central issue rather than individual window problems. Initial diagnosis showed multiple error codes related to the power window system. The root cause turned out to be the main window control module, not the individual window regulators or motors. The module serves as the brain controlling all four window operations. The repair required replacing the master control module and reprogramming the new unit to sync with the car window systems. This is definitely a job for a specialist with proper diagnostic equipment, as the window regulator system needs precise calibration after module replacement. What appeared at first as a complete window system failure was resolved without needing to replace any mechanical components like window motors or tracks. The issue was significant but purely electronic. The repair took about 3 hours including programming and testing all windows for proper operation. Worth noting: Before assuming its the module, have the battery checked. A weak battery can cause similar symptoms, though in your case with all windows affected simultaneously, the control module is a likely culprit.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the control module replacement. It definitely sounds similar to my situation with all windows failing at once. The repair approach makes sense. Could you share what the total repair cost was for the module replacement and programming? Also wondering if youve had any issues since the fix? Planning to take it in soon and trying to budget for what might be a significant repair on my S5s power windows.

Just got back with an update on my A5 window repair, turns out my initial guess about the control module was off. After a proper diagnostic at the shop, they found a faulty window regulator was the actual cause. The window mechanism had failed in a way that affected the entire power window system. The repair was straightforward once they identified the real issue. The total came to 200 Euro, which covered fixing the power window switch that was defective. Much less than I expected compared to a full module replacement. The fix included testing all windows to ensure proper operation. Its been working flawlessly since the repair, all power windows function perfectly now. No more error codes or issues with the window control system. If your S5 shows similar symptoms, it might be worth checking the regulators and switches first before assuming its the control module. The total repair time was shorter than my previous experience, taking just about an hour to complete. Having a proper diagnosis made all the difference in getting the right fix at a reasonable cost.

Took my S5 to the shop today based on your feedback. You were spot on, it wasnt the full control module after all. The mechanic found a failing door panel connection that was disrupting the whole window control system. Once they traced the issue to the main window regulator motor, the fix was pretty quick. Total repair came to 280 Euro for parts and labor. They had to replace one window motor and resync the system. Much better than the 800 Euro estimate I got from the previous shop for a full module replacement. All windows are working perfectly now. The window mechanism moves smoothly, and the automatic up/down feature is back to normal. Really glad I got a second opinion instead of going with the first diagnosis. Thanks again for sharing your experience, helped me avoid an unnecessary expensive repair.
