Thanks for sharing your experience with the airbag sensor issue. The crash sensor problem sounds identical to what Im experiencing. Curious, do you remember roughly what the repair cost came to? Also wondering if the warning light has stayed off since the fix. Mine just started appearing intermittently which makes me think I might have the same wiring issue under the seat affecting the airbag deployment system.

Follow-up on my previous airbag sensor repair, yes, the warning light has stayed completely off since getting it fixed. The airbag system repair was much simpler and cheaper than initially expected. The total came to 95 Euro for fixing a damaged cable connection under the seat. The intermittent warning you describe matches exactly what I experienced before the repair. Its often a sign of a loose or worn connection affecting the airbag sensor system rather than a complete failure of the airbag components themselves. A certified technician found the issue quickly during diagnostics and confirmed the vehicle safety systems were otherwise intact. The repair restored full functionality to the airbag system and associated safety features. For automotive safety reasons, the repair needed specialized diagnostic equipment to properly reset the airbag sensor system after fixing the connection. Despite the relatively low cost, the work required proper certification to ensure the car safety systems would function correctly in case of an accident.

Thanks everyone for the helpful responses. Just wanted to update that I took the car to a certified mechanic who specializes in automotive safety systems. True to what was suggested here, they found a damaged wire harness under the passenger seat affecting the restraint system. The repair was straightforward, they replaced the worn section of the airbag wiring and reset the system. Total cost came to 120 Euro including diagnostic work. Much better than the dealer quote of 450 Euro. The warning light is now completely gone and the vehicle safety system is back to normal. The mechanic showed me where the wire had been rubbing against the seat frame, causing the intermittent airbag warning. They also performed a full safety check on all airbag components while the seat was out. Good peace of mind knowing the car safety systems are working properly again. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction with this repair. Definitely worth addressing these warning lights promptly when they involve critical safety features.

Had the same airbag warning light issue on my 2020 Audi S4. The restraint system warning appeared suddenly and required immediate attention for car safety compliance. After diagnostic testing, it turned out to be a faulty connection in the airbag wiring harness under the passenger seat. The cable had worn through due to seat movement over time. This is actually a common automotive safety concern on several Audi models. The repair involved replacing the entire wiring harness assembly to ensure proper airbag function. While the labor was extensive since the seats needed removal, it was critical to address this rather than risk airbag malfunction. Worth noting, some airbag recall campaigns have covered similar issues. Worth checking if your VIN is affected before paying for repairs. The dealer should be able to verify recall status. My recommendation: Get it checked immediately. A faulty airbag system is not something to postpone, as it affects all safety restraint components. Despite the warning light, the car drives normally because the airbag system operates independently from engine management. Best to have a certified shop do the work given the safety-critical nature of airbag repairs. They will have the proper diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact fault in the system.
