Audi S7 Climate Control Failure, Sensors to Blame

My 2020 Audi S7 climate system is acting up, temperature control seems completely off. The automatic climate settings stopped working, and now the AC wont turn on at all. The car has stored an error code related to this issue. Im suspecting the interior temperature sensor might be causing these problems, but want to confirm before taking it to a shop. Has anyone dealt with similar temperature control issues? Looking for insights on sensor diagnostics and repair experiences, particularly what the actual fix was and rough cost range. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Having dealt with similar temperature sensor issues on my 2018 Audi S6, I can share my experience. With moderate experience working on cars, this problem sounded very familiar. The symptoms you describe match exactly what I encountered, climate control malfunction and AC issues. After initial sensor diagnostics, it turned out to be a faulty cable connection to the temperature sensor, rather than the sensor itself. The error codes were indicating sensor issues, but the root cause was the wiring. The repair involved accessing the connection point and replacing the damaged wiring harness section. Total cost was 95 Euro for parts and labor. Since then, the climate control system has worked flawlessly. Before jumping to conclusions though, could you share: The specific error code stored, Whether the temperature reading shows any value at all, If the issue started suddenly or developed gradually, Current mileage on your S7 This information would help confirm if your issue matches what I experienced, as temperature sensor problems can have various causes. Consider having a professional run detailed sensor diagnostics, as attempting DIY repairs on modern climate control systems can lead to additional complications.

Latest service was at 183000 KM in December. Thanks for sharing your repair experience. The error code shown is P0073. The temperature reading is completely blank on the display. This happened pretty suddenly, one morning the climate regulation just stopped working entirely. Based on what you described about the wiring issue, I checked the visible wiring but everything looks intact. Good to know it might still be a connection problem rather than a complete sensor replacement. Will get professional sensor diagnostics done to pinpoint the exact cause. Did you experience any other warning lights or system alerts when this happened to your car? And how long did the complete repair take?

Thanks for those additional details. After my wiring fix on the S6, I can share some relevant follow-ups. My temperature reading was also completely blank, just like yours. However, I didnt get any additional warning lights with the P0073 code. The HVAC sensor system seems to fail independently from other electronics. The complete repair including sensor diagnostics took about 2 hours. The tricky part was accessing the wiring harness behind the dashboard panels. Even though visible wiring looks fine, the problem is often in hidden connection points. Interesting that your issue also occurred suddenly. Temperature sensor failures typically show gradual symptoms first, which makes me more convinced this could be connection-related rather than sensor failure. When my wiring was repaired, they found corrosion at the connector pins despite no visible external damage. The mileage on your S7 is quite similar to when my issue occurred. The climate regulation system on these models seems particularly sensitive to wiring problems around this mileage point. A professional diagnostic check focusing on the wiring connections would be the safest next step. Sensor replacement alone costs around 250 Euro, while wiring repairs usually run closer to 100 Euro.

The error code shown is P0073. The temperature reading is completely blank on the display. This happened pretty suddenly, one morning the climate regulation just stopped working entirely. Thanks for that detailed info about your repair experience and timeline. Your situation does sound nearly identical to mine, especially the sudden failure and blank temperature reading. Its reassuring to hear the repair was relatively straightforward and didnt require extensive dashboard removal. No other warning lights have appeared on my car, just the climate control malfunction. Good to know this matches your experience with isolated sensor issues. Ill definitely have them check those connector pins during the diagnostic process. Given the similar mileage when your problem occurred and the matching symptoms, Im more hopeful this will be a simpler wiring fix rather than full sensor replacement. Will book the car in next week for professional sensor diagnostics and ask them to thoroughly inspect the wiring harness connections first. Much appreciated for the cost estimates too, helps set realistic expectations for the repair. Would you mind updating me once I get the diagnostic results back?
