Audi S7 SRS Light: Common Airbag System Warning Fixed

My 2023 Audi S7 has started showing the SRS light on the dashboard. The airbag warning lamp stays illuminated constantly during driving. No accident or impact occurred before this started happening. The restraint system seems otherwise normal, but I am concerned about safety. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their S7? Looking for insights on what the workshop found and fixed, was it a crash sensor problem or something else with the airbag system? Would be great to know typical repair costs and time needed for the fix before heading to service.

Having dealt with a similar airbag sensor issue on my 2021 Audi S6, I can share my experience. I have some experience working on cars, mainly basic maintenance and diagnostics. The illuminated airbag warning light definitely needs attention, as it indicates a fault in the automotive safety system. In my case, the restraint system warning appeared suddenly, just like yours. After scanning, my workshop found a faulty cable connection to one of the airbag deployment sensors. The wire harness had developed a poor contact due to normal wear. The repair involved testing the connections and replacing a section of the wiring. Total cost was 95 Euro and took about 2 hours to complete. To provide more specific guidance for your S7, could you share: Have you had any diagnostic scans done? Are there any other warning lights active? Did you notice this start after any maintenance work? Does the light ever go off, or is it constant? The airbag repair requirements can vary between models, so these details would help determine if your issue matches what I encountered. Recommend having it checked soon, as a malfunctioning airbag system could affect safety in case of an accident.

Thanks for sharing your experience. My S7 had its last service at 110000 KM and everything was fine until last week. After reading your reply, I ran a diagnostic scan which showed error code B0020 related to the driver side crash sensor. The SRS warning lamp stays on constantly and no other warning lights are active. No recent maintenance was done that could have triggered this. Will schedule a workshop visit this week to ensure the car safety systems are working properly. Having properly functioning airbags is crucial and I dont want to risk driving with a potentially compromised restraint system.

Thanks for those additional details about your S7. That specific error code B0020 points directly to the driver side crash sensor, which matches what I suspected based on the symptoms. The airbag sensor issues can be quite specific, and since your case shows the same warning behavior as my S6 had, it is likely a similar connection problem. Your higher mileage could actually support this diagnosis, as the wiring connections to crash sensors can develop issues over time due to normal vibration and movement. The fact that no other warning lights are active is also consistent with an isolated airbag sensor fault rather than a broader vehicle safety system problem. The repair on my S6 was straightforward once they identified the exact connection point causing the fault. While costs can vary, my complete airbag repair including labor was around 95 Euro. Given the similar nature of the issue, you might expect comparable costs unless they find additional problems during the inspection. Good call on scheduling the workshop visit promptly. A faulty crash sensor could prevent proper airbag deployment in an accident, so getting this resolved is essential for maintaining your vehicle safety systems.

Thanks for the detailed information. I appreciate you sharing the specifics of your repair experience. The fact that it was just a wiring issue on your S6 gives me some hope that my SRS light problem might also have a straightforward fix. The diagnostic code pointing to the crash sensor seems to align well with your case. Since safety is my top priority and proper airbag deployment could be compromised, I have booked the car in for next Tuesday. The service advisor mentioned they will do a complete airbag system diagnostic check first. If it does turn out to be just a wiring repair needed for the crash sensor like in your case, the 95 Euro range repair cost would be manageable. Will update the forum once I get the results from the workshop. This information could help other owners who experience similar airbag recall related warnings or SRS light issues with their vehicles.
