Last service was at 39190 KM. Had the exact same symptoms with my sun blind, complete motor failure. Got it diagnosed last week. My mechanic confirmed the issue is identical to what you described. Motor makes no sound at all when pressing the controls. System worked fine until about a month ago, then started moving slower before completely stopping. No previous repairs on the sunshade system. Based on the workshop quote I received, repair costs seem to align with your experience. They estimated 350 Euro for a complete fix including the window visor motor replacement and calibration. Anyone else faced this issue with their S7? Wondering if its worth getting a second opinion on the repair cost.

The cost estimate you received is right in line with what I paid for the same repair. These car blind systems tend to fail in a very similar pattern across the A6/S6/S7 range, and your symptoms match my experience exactly, gradual slowdown followed by complete failure. The complete silence when pressing controls is a telltale sign of motor failure. Since your mileage is relatively low at 39190 KM, this confirms the known weakness in the interior accessory design rather than wear from extensive use. I can confirm the repair has been completely reliable since replacement, no issues with the UV protection system for over 18 months now. The new motor seems more robust than the original unit. The 350 Euro quote is fair considering: Parts cost for genuine motor unit, Labor for trim removal and installation, System recalibration time, Testing procedures A second opinion likely wont yield significant savings since the repair process is quite standardized for this car interior issue. The sunshade repair requires specific diagnostic equipment for proper calibration. Did your mechanic mention the expected parts availability and repair timeframe?

Thanks for the detailed information about your repair experience and feedback on the costs. Your confirmation about the 350 Euro being reasonable gives me more confidence to proceed with the repair. My mechanic said they can get the sunshade motor within 2-3 days and complete the repair in one day. Given how similar our issues are, same gradual failure pattern and complete silence from the controls, I will go ahead with the authorized repair. The car sunshade is actually quite important for me since I park outdoors most of the time, so getting proper UV protection back is worth the investment. Plus, I want to maintain the vehicle properly for eventual resale. I will probably schedule the repair next week. The complete interior trim removal and recalibration process explains the labor costs involved. At least now I know what to expect with the repair timeline and process. Would be interesting to track if this sun visor motor lasts longer than the original. Will update here once the repair is done.

Having some experience with these systems, I encountered a similar issue on my 2015 Audi S6. The sun visor motor gave up completely, leaving the window shade stuck in place. The car sunshade system shares many components across the A6/S6/S7 platform. After scanning showed the error code, my workshop found the sunblind motor was burned out. The interior accessory system in these models is known to have this weakness, the motor works overtime and eventually fails, especially if the UV protection mechanism gets frequent use. The repair involved: Complete removal of rear window trim, Replacement of the window visor motor unit, System recalibration, Final testing of the mechanism Total cost was 330 Euro including parts and labor. The repair took about 2.5 hours. Could you share: Current mileage on your S7? Do you hear any noise when trying to operate the sunshade? Has the system been working intermittently before failing completely? Any previous repairs to the sunshade system? This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced and if the same fix would apply.
