Auris AC and Temperature Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Toyota Auris is experiencing issues with the air conditioning system not functioning and a warning light appearing. The suspected cause is a malfunctioning heat exchanger temperature sensor. However, a similar case revealed that the root problem was a defective air conditioning control unit. The suggested solution is to have a professional workshop diagnose and potentially replace the AC control unit.

The temperature gauge seems normal, but the error code definitely points to the heat exchanger temperature sensor. Did your error messages specifically mention that, or was it something else?

Yep, the error was related to the heat exchanger temp sensor alright. Honestly, after chasing ghosts for a bit, the workshop guys said it was a defective air conditioning control unit all along. Saved me a ton of headache just letting them diagnose it properly.

Thanks a bunch! That's super helpful. I'll take it to a trusted workshop and get the AC control unit checked out. They quoted me around 980€ for the repair – hopefully, that's all it is!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I've got an Auris too, and I had similar HVAC system problems a while back. Engine cooling was all over the place. Was your temperature gauge going crazy, too? Could be a coolant leak messing with the sensor malfunction.
