Auris automatic transmission issue

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2009 Toyota Auris diesel. It's got about 88,000 km on the clock. Basically, it won't start. The check engine light is on, and the gears seem to be slipping or shifting rough when I tried to move it before it completely gave up. Also, I scanned it and there's an error code stored. Could it be the shift lock or something with the automatic transmission?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Auris, also an automatic. Engine wouldn't crank, and the CEL was illuminated. Any idea if it's related to a faulty transmission sensor?

I'm not sure about the transmission sensor. Where exactly is that located, and is it easy to check? Could it also be a control unit issue, or am I way off?

It could be the control unit. My issue turned out to be a defective control unit for the automatic transmission. That's the likely culprit if you're getting those symptoms and error codes. Best to get it checked by a workshop; could be a pricey fix, around 1000€, depending on the damage.

Thanks for the info! I took it to a local mechanic, and you were right, it was the transmission control unit. Cost me about 1000€ to repair, but at least it's running again.
