Auris check engine light VANOS issue
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Toyota Auris exhibited a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, suspected to be related to the inlet VANOS mechanics or camshaft solenoid valve. Error codes indicated an issue with the inlet camshaft, and the engine was running less smoothly. The problem was confirmed to be the inlet VANOS solenoid, which was replaced, resolving the check engine light and normalizing fuel consumption.

Codes point to the inlet camshaft. Haven't checked the harness yet. Engine feels less smooth. Sound familiar?

Sounds familiar. Likely VANOS solenoid. Cleaning or checking resistance is an option, but I'd suggest a workshop. Faulty VANOS can cause more damage.

Workshop confirmed inlet VANOS solenoid. Replaced it for 250€. Check engine light gone, fuel consumption normal. Thanks!

Similar symptoms on my Auris. Check for error codes? Mine was VANOS solenoid. Before swapping, check the wiring harness and connector to the solenoid valve. Loose connections cause issues. Is the engine running rough?
