Auris cruise control failure
Summary of the thread
The cruise control on a 2007 Toyota Auris diesel stopped working without any dashboard errors, though a diagnostic revealed a stored error. The issue was suspected to be a faulty switch or connection. A suggestion was made to check the brake light switch, as it can affect cruise control functionality. Ultimately, a mechanic identified and resolved the problem as a defective connection, costing 95€.

Brake light switch, huh? I hadn't considered that. Where is that located? Can I easily check it myself, or is it best left to a professional? I'm not mechanically gifted.

Worth a shot before spending a fortune! It's usually near the brake pedal. Have a look, but if you're not confident, take it to a workshop. The cable or plug connection could be defective, like my Astra. I ended up taking mine in.

Took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on! It was a defective connection. The mechanic sorted it for 95€. I appreciate you sharing your experience!

That's a bummer. My old Vauxhall Astra had a similar issue, though it was petrol. Turned out to be a dodgy connection. Did you check the brake light switch? Apparently, that can mess with cruise control on some cars. Or maybe a steering wheel issue?
