Auris Electrical Faults
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Toyota Auris hybrid is experiencing electrical issues, including a dead navigation system and intermittent malfunctions like flickering interior lights and non-responsive electric windows. The error report suggests an implausible programming of the control unit as a potential cause. A software refresh of the control module is recommended as a possible solution, but professional diagnosis and reprogramming may be necessary to fully resolve the issue.

The electrical malfunctions are a bit all over the place. Sometimes the interior lights flicker, and once the electric windows refused to work for a few minutes. It's intermittent, which makes it even more frustrating. Do you think a software refresh for the control module could fix it? Or is it more serious?

Yeah, intermittent issues like that do point to a control unit glitch. A software refresh is definitely worth a shot; it might clear out the bugs. The error code points toward that as well. But given it affects multiple systems, I'd get it checked by a professional who can properly diagnose and reprogram the ECU. Could be more than just a simple refresh.

That's helpful. I suspected as much. Looks like a trip to the workshop is unavoidable. The repair estimate I received was around 240€, so hopefully, a reflash will solve the issue. Will post a follow-up if it works.

Sounds like an ECU problem. These cars are computers on wheels, and sometimes the software gets a bit wonky. When you say 'general electrical malfunctions,' what exactly is happening? Is it affecting lights, windows, or anything specific?
