Auris engine power reduction
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Toyota Auris hybrid experienced a reduction in engine power, with a scan tool detecting an error code. The issue was linked to previous chip tuning, which can interfere with the engine management system. The suggested solution was to have the ECU checked and potentially reflashed by a professional workshop. After following this advice, the problem was resolved by reflashing the ECU, eliminating the error code and restoring engine power.

Interesting point. I did have some chip tuning installed a while back. Is it possible that the tuning is causing these issues now, even after all this time? What did you experience when your Auris had a similar problem?

Aftermarket tuning can definitely cause issues down the line. The ECU might be trying to compensate for something it wasn't designed for. In my case, it was a dodgy remap causing the engine to run lean. If you suspect the tuning, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to have it checked out professionally. They can probably diagnose it properly and reflash the ECU if necessary.

Thanks for the insight. I took your advice and visited a local workshop. Turns out the chip tuning was indeed the culprit. They reflashed the ECU, and the error code is now gone, along with the power reduction. The repair cost me about 180€.

I had a similar problem with my Auris, though I don't remember the exact year. Check for any chip tuning done by third-party providers. That can mess with the engine management system and throw up weird fault codes. Have you checked that?
