Auris exhaust leak causes sensor issues
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Toyota Auris owner experienced issues with the check engine light, reduced engine power, and increased fuel consumption. The problem was suspected to be related to the exhaust temperature sensor. A suggestion was made to check for exhaust leaks, particularly near the catalytic converter, as leaks can affect sensor readings. Upon inspection by a mechanic, a small crack in the exhaust was found and repaired, resolving the issue.

Interesting. Where exactly should I be looking for the leak? Is there a common spot where they tend to appear?

For me it was near the catalytic converter. Honestly, unless you're experienced with exhaust systems, it's probably best to get a mechanic to take a look. It could save you a lot of time and potential headaches.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – a small crack in the exhaust caused the faulty sensor readings! New sensor and exhaust repair cost me 265€. Runs like new now!

Hey! I had something similar with my Auris. Check your exhaust system for leaks! A small leak can mess with the sensor readings and cause those exact symptoms.
