Auris Overheating Check Engine Light
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Toyota Auris diesel is experiencing overheating and a persistent check engine light, with coolant leaking due to excessive pressure. The issue is suspected to be a control unit communication error, as indicated by a diagnostic trouble code reader. The problem was identified as a defective cable or plug connection, which was resolved at a workshop.

Thanks! Where exactly should I be looking for these connections and the wiring harness? Are there any specific areas known to cause trouble?

It's usually a corroded plug connection. Given the age, the cable is the most likely culprit. In my case with the Astra, it was easier to take it to a workshop to get it sorted out. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! It turned out to be exactly what you said - a defective cable/plug connection. Got it sorted at the shop for 95€. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar control module problem with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms: check engine light, overheating, coolant leaks. Have you checked the data link connections and wiring harness around the component? Could be a bad connection.
